Mangalore: Seminar on Law Relating to Private Security, Investigation Held

Mangalore June 12: Mangalore Bar Association and department of security and detective science of MIFT College Mangalore organized a seminar on law relating to private security and investigation on Saturday June 12.

District sessions judge H R Deshpande, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the programme. Registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University Dr P S Yadapadittaya was the guest of honour.


 
Assressing the gathering, Deshpande said that the private investigations are a must with the developments of industries and corporate companies. The centre had enacted a private security law in 2005 and the state government had enforced private security law in 2007.

Inspector general of police Gopal B Hosur presiding over the function said that while an advocate was killed, four attempts to kill advocates has been averted. He pointed out that in such a scenario, the holy peaces like churches, mosques and temples too need security. To fulfill all this security needs four time of the existing range is required. Private security agency is a must to provide citizen much more security, he said adding that technology should be part of the discussion without which the seminar would be incomplete.

Retired head of the department of criminology and forensic science of Karnatak University Shrikanth V Mangsuli presented a seminar titled Legal Aspects of Forensic Evidence. CEO of 360 Degrees Investigations in New Delhi, Ashwinder Singh Lamba, spoke on the topic Relevance of Private Investigation in Law and Security. Former IGP M K Nagaraj presented a seminar on Need to Regulate Security and Investigation.  
 
President of Mangalore Bar Association S P Chengappa, vice-president of Mangalore Bar Association Elizabeth Neeliyara, chairman of ALN Charitable Trust Dr Aroor Prasad Rao and director of MIFT College MG Hegde among others were present.
