Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 14: Cloudy weather and heavy rains continue in the coast from Karwar to Kasargod. Artificial floods have become a routine affair in the city, with the compound wall of the university college having collapsed because of standing water.

A house belonging to Khateejamma in Kalkatta in Manjanady village, Ullal, crumbled. Because of incessant rains in Subrahmanya, water level in rivers has increased. Sullia and Bantwal also experienced artificial floods at various places. The traffic problems created with the collapse of a manhole in Kaikunje are yet to be addressed. Puttur, Kadaba, Uppinangady etc., too received heavy rains. Rivers Netravati, Kumaradhara and other rivulets are overflowing.

Udupi, Kundapur, Karkala, Manipal, etc., too received good rains since Sunday June 14 morning. The sea has become turbulent. Fallen trees and damaged houses have become a common phenomenon of this week.

The meteorological department has predicted winds to blow at a velocity of 50 to 60 kms in the next one day. The fishermen have been warned.
