Mangaluru: Carmel School celebrates Republic Day in unique manner

Mangaluru, Jan 26: Carmel School, here, celebrated Republic Day with a recitation competition of the ‘Preamble’ to the Constitution for classes 8, 9, 10. To mark the 72nd Republic Day, the faculty held a unique project ‘Go Green, Grow Green’ and planted 72 avalanda ornamental flower-bearing tree saplings to be gifted to the students during ‘Vanamahotsava’ celebrations.

A short programme was held in the campus. Sister Maria Shubha AC, secretary of The Apostolic Carmel Educational Society, Karnataka Province was the chief guest of the programme. Sister Sarika, the principal accorded a loving welcome. Nia Pais, the school pupil leader elucidated the significance of the day.



The faculty also put up a skit that amplified the tenets of the Constitution and paid tribute to Bharath Matha.

Anika Patrao, the assistant school pupil leader proposed the vote of thanks. Vinutha B Kamath and Fatima Rushda compered the programme. Sister Maria Shamita AC, the provincial superior, awarded the winners of the recitation competition. Sister Marie Lucy, the joint secretary, Sister Rose Agnes, the administrator, the heads of the campus institutions were the dignitaries who graced the celebrations.
