Mangaluru, Jan 26: It is customary to hoist national flag on Republic Day on all the government organization buildings or campuses. However, in Belma gram panchayat (GP) on the outskirts of the city the flag is not hoisted at all.

Belma gram panchayat did not celebrate Republic Day of India. According to protocol of government the flag should be hoisted before 9 am. Villagers of Blema are questioning if the government rules does not apply to panchayat development officer (PDO).

Villagers of Belma have expressed rage against the lacklustre attitude of the PDO. They are also suspecting the CEO of taluk panchayat, who has the information about the flag not hoisted but has kept quiet and did not take any action.

Patriotic villagers of Belma are urging to suspend the PDO. As the messages went viral on social media, Belma PDO got the flag hoisting done by the help of a youth. While hoisting the flag, the PDO did not remove his footwear which is considered as insult to the national flag.

Sir It is no doubt an act of omission on part of the Government official but due to todays atmosphere of hyper nationalism it is made to appear like a unpardonable crime. It does not make any person less patriotic if he does not brandishing a tricolour. But being government official he should have been extra careful in. following the protocol.

Its better to do any other job that become a govt official. Always a possibility that you may offend some stupid people. As if they love republic day so much. Enjoy the day off, spend some time with your family. Instead these stupid people want to get offended at everything under the sun.
