Mangaluru, Jan 26: Republic Day was celebrated in all its solemnity and grandeur at St Agnes CBSE School on January 26.
The chief guest, Naveen D'Souza, corporator of Mangaluru City Corporation, Bendur ward was escorted by the students.
A prayer service was led by the students in a meaningful way. On the occasion, the chief guest unfurled the tri-colour flag. The students and the staff saluted the National Flag and pledged themselves to uphold the honour and integrity, diversity and uniqueness of our motherland. The students in unison with the teaches melodiously sang the Hindi patriotic song "Bharath humko jaan se pyaara hai'.
The melodious song reverberated in the surroundings. The significance of the day was given by Glaval Pinto, a student of grade IX. The backedrop was creatively decorated to suit the occasion. The chief guest addressed the gathering and urged them to do their best and to feel proud to be the citizens of India. A student of grade X, Anjali Rai concluded the programme by rendering her heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone. The staff and students dispersed with the image of the futtering tri-colour in their minds.
To make the students a part of the celebration various online competitions were conducted for primary students such as fancy dress on Lady of Justice and Mother India, a national bird from best out of waste, kite making and pencil sketch of Dr B R Ambedkar.
