Mangaluru: Deception by travel agency - Youth from Ullal jailed in Indonesia

Mangaluru, Jan 27: A youth from Ullal, who was searching for a job in Indonesia was cheated by a travel agency and lost six lac rupees. The youth, Mohammed Niyaz, who is a diploma holder, has registered a complaint against the owner of the travel agency.

The complaint is registered with the city police commissioner. The victim has accused Shameer Rizwan, owner of Mangaluru Tours and Travels, of cheating him to the extent of Rs 6 lac. Abdul Aziz, father of victim Niyaz said that his son was made to reside in a small house with three other youths of the district in Indonesia.

Abdul further accused Shameer and said, "Shameer had taken all documents promising a job to my son. He has taken Rs 6 lac for a visa. He promised us that he will get my son a job as a mechanical engineer with a salary of Rs 2 lac per month if we pay him Rs 6 lac for a visa. He took my son to Indonesia on a visit visa. I have paid Rs 3.5 lac in the month of July 2019 and Rs 2.5 lac in the month of February 2020."

Victim Niyaz said, "From February to September 2020 I was in the room itself, along with three other youths of our district. In September we were arrested by the immigration officers and spent 14 days in prison on charges of staying illegally in the country. Later they released us after we fought the case legally."

"My father has spent Rs 8 lac to get me back to Mangaluru. Shameer used to share the money, collected from the job aspirants, with travel agents in Indonesia. When I met him on January 21, 2021, he promised to return only Rs two lac,” he said.
