Kundapur, Jan 28: Om Guru is a familiar name in field of plays in the taluk. He has presented several comedy dramas through Kalataranga. He is active in the stage drama field for the past 20 years. He has acted on silver screen also.
Om Guru, who has grown in the drama field phase by phase, is not only a good actor but director and story writer also. Now he has got into directing Kannada movies also. He has directed the movie 'Kundapura' under GC Movies banner and has written screen play, dialogues also.
The actual name of Om Guru is Gururaja. But he is better known as Om Guru in the drama field. He is the son of Sadashiva and Kamala couple. When he was studying in third grade itself at BM school of Basruru, he took keen interest in acting and started to act in dramas. Later after completing his SSLC, he went to Mumbai to earn his livelihood. He completed his second PUC studying in evening college and working during day time. After completion of PUC, he returned to his native place and took active part in drama activities.
Teacher of B M School Ramakrishna Patali and Parameshwar Achar Anagalli became his drama teachers. Om Guru gave stress on performing his part in drama with dedication. The drama audience loved his performances. He became the most sought after actor through his acting skills in Friends Yuvaka Mandala Balkoor, Mathrushree Kala Thands and Kalatharanga Basrur.
Om Guru, who is very popular actor is identified as a comedy villain by the audience. He has acted in more than 40 dramas as a villain. His own creation 'Sadhni Madad Yaaru?' and 'Ondak Onduvare' dramas have held more than 100 shows. Along with comedy of good taste, there is a message to the society in his dramas.
On the silver screen, Om Guru has acted in many movies including 'Pank Makkal', 'Garagara Mandla', 'Bilindar', 'Kataka', 'Mufti', 'Ramesha-Suresha', 'Mrigashira' and 'Karunadu Shaale'. He has also anchored many comedy shows. He has acted as guest actor in several dramas. Om Guru has judged many comedy shows.
Om Guru's team also trains those who are interested in drama acting. Earlier stage training was given free of cost in government schools. Later in Basuru more than 70 people are trained in acting, stage walk, dialogue delivery, expression of emotions and character picturisation. He has also organized musical competitions in order to identify local talents.
Om Guru lives a happy life with his wife Sowmyashree and sons Satvik and Ganvik. Government has to identify and honour such artiste achievers.
'Kundapura' cineman is produced under the banner GC Movies. The trailer release programme of this movie will be held on January 28 at Kundeshwara temple. The movie will be released on February 26.
Story, screenplay, dialogue and direction of the movie Kundapura, along with co-production is done by Om Guru. Chandrashekara Basur is the producer of the movie. He is also a good stage artiste and is active for the past 20 years. The pair of Om Guru and Chandrashekhar is very popular. Music is provided by Uttama Saranga.
The movie is shot in various locations of Udupi district. Nearly 84 popular artistes of drama are cast in this movie. This is comedy-based suspense thriller movie. The movie which travels along comedy reaches a curious point at climax. The movie has surpassed all expectations. The duration of the movie is two hours. This has two songs and four fight sequences. All are made in a unique manner. Ultra-modern quality and sound effect are the specialities of this movie. On the whole there is no doubt that the movie will enthrall the audience.
