Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 30 lac from Dubai returnee

Mangaluru, Jan 30: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday January 30 arrested one passenger who had arrived from Dubai to MIA on Air India flight IX 1814.

The arrested is identified as Mashkoor Kallar hailing from Kasargod, Kerala. On profiling and personal search, the passenger was found to have concealed gold in paste form in his rectum. Gold weighing 0.587 KG of 24k purity valued at Rs 30 lac (approx) was recovered and seized.

Commissioner of Customs Imamuddin Ahmed, IRS has commended the persistent vigil maintained by the Mangalore Air Customs team lead by Dr Kapil Gade IRS, deputy commissioner and officers Preeti Suma, superintendent, Satish Kumar, superintendent and Kashiti Nayak, superintendent, for their consistent anti-smuggling efforts.

    Dear Shalini, your question is absolutely correct. So far Gold of billions of dollars has been confiscated in Manalore airport but nobody knows what happens after that. Every thing is on Ram bharose.
