Bengaluru: Full-day classes for 9th to 12th std from Feb 1; academic calendar announced

Bengaluru, Jan 31: Ninth and 11th standard classes are going to begin from February 1. Full day classes will be held for students from ninth to 12th standards.

Education department has sent a circular to all schools and colleges in this regard explaining the action that needs to be taken by them to implement this order.

Separate circulars are sent by Anbukumar, commissioner of public education department and R Snehal, director of PU department.

From January 1, a few hours of classroom teaching was being held for students of 10th and 12th grade. The education department has now decided to begin full time classes from February 1 for students from ninth to 12th standard.

For students of ninth and 10th standards classes would be conducted from 10 am to 4.30 pm from Monday to Friday and 10 am to 12.30 pm on Saturday. Parent consent letter for students attending school is made compulsory.

PU education department has taken out a separate circular to conduct full time classes for students of first and second PU from February 1. The circular also states that one lecturer should be nominated, in every college, as nodal officer to supervise the Covid guideline implementation.


Timetable for academic year

In the meantime, the government has also announced a timetable for the next academic year (2021-22) for all the courses and has instructed the educational institutions to implement the same strictly.

According to the circular, for the first, third and fifth semester of degree courses, classes will begin on October 4, 2021 and end on January 31, 2022. Exams will end on February 28, 2022.

For second, fourth and sixth semester degrees, classes will begin from March 1, 2022 and end on June 30, 2022. Exams will end on July 31, 2022. Results will be announced on August 14, 2022.

For engineering courses, classes for first, third, fifth and seventh semester will begin on October 4, 2021 and end on January 31, 2022. Exams will end on February 28, 2022. Classes for second, fourth, sixth and eighth semester, classes will begin from March 1, 2022 and end on June 30, 2022. Exams will end on July 31, 2022. Results will be announced on August 14, 2022.

For post-graduate courses, classes for first and third semester will begin from October 4, 2021 and end on January 31, 2022. Exams will end on February 28, 2022. For second and fourth semester classes will end on June 30, 2022. Exams will begin from July 31, 2022. Results will be announced on August 14, 2022.
