Mangaluru: Temple theft, soiling saffron flag case – Two arrested

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 1: Two people have been arrested in cases related to theft at temple and soling of saffron flag, said police commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Monday February 1.

Addressing media he said, “The arrested are Mohammed Suhail (19) and Nizamuddin (21), residents of Talapady. This is a team of 6 people. Four more are yet to be arrested.

"Upon interrogation, they confessed that they have broken open the Hundi of Arasu Mundithaya Temple at Malar in the year 2020. They also confessed of breaking open the Hundi at Madur on January 15. They agreed about committing theft at Derlakatte Aiyappa Swamy Temple seva counter and soiling saffron flag at Gopalkrishna temple at Perande at Konaje.

“A total of 9 cases are registered against them at Punjalkatte, Bantwal, Ullal, Kankanady and Mangaluru rural police stations. Out of 9 cases, five are temple thefts and other cases include petrol pump theft case. We have seized a scooter, Hundi boxes of temples, knife and spanner used in committing the crimes. The total worth of all the seized items is Rs 35,000.

“In the temple theft case, they did not find anything much worth in the Hundi. Hence, they soiled the saffron flag to divert the attention.

“This gang has no connection with other temple incident where objectionable items were dropped in the donation box. Regarding that case, we have got some lead and will crack it soon,” he said.

I do not deny, they are scapegoats. But definitely they have involved in crimes like theft but may not be involved in temple desecration like soiling the saffron flag. Even the police has to ease the tension of the aggrieved community too.

Unfortunately for the culprits & victims, they are in & backed by the opposition party.
Now a days, these culprits, anti nationals they can't escape like earlier, due to the political pressure from their respective party.

Abdul bhai, i firmly believe that the elders from your community, must get together at a conclave and introspect the root causes, as to why many youths, are habitually violating laws and indulging in heinous crimes !!! This invariably creates a bad image, in our society....
