Mangaluru, Feb 1: One person has been detained for sexually harassing an 18-year-old girl under Konaje station limits, informed police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.

Addressing media on Monday February 1, he said, “The accused is a local who sexual harassed a deaf and mute girl when no one was around at her home. The accused committed the crime and escaped when he saw the victim’s uncle approaching the house.

“The victim’s mother is a tailor. The accused was aware that no one will be at the victim’s house. He was also aware that the girl is deaf and mute.

“I have noticed that there are several isolated houses in the rural areas here under the police commissionerate limits. If anyone finds suspicious movement of a person, inform the police. We can detain them for questioning. There is nothing wrong in questioning. It is better take preventive measure before any untoward incident takes place,” he said.
