M’lore: ZP Raid on Horticulture Dept - Excess Stock of Pesticides Seized

Mangalore June 22: Zilla panchayat (ZP) on Tuesday June 22 raided three godowns of horticulture department and seized bags of time-barred organic manure, pesticides and excess stock of pesticides.

ZP chief accountant D Thimappa spearheaded the raid. The pesticides and other farm-related chemicals dumped at the godown allegedly were not distributed. The reason for piling up outdated stocks at the down is yet to be ascertained.

The case has been handed over to the chief executive officer (CEO) of ZP Shivashankar.

    It is recommended to do periodical inspection in the books of the officials.Lapse on their part has led to this anamoly.
    This is the finest example how the poor farmers are deprived of their rights.
