Mangaluru: Tulu actor who criticized PM Modi faces derisive comments, threat

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Feb 4: Tulu small screen and cine actor Shobhraj Pavoor, had commented about hike in oil prices, in the Facebook with the remarks, 'Namo......Namage Mosa....Petrol Dhaga Dhaga....Diesel Dhaga Dhaga'. In the social media, abusive and threatening responses have been made against this post.

Shobhraj had provided clarification on his post in Tulu. For this too he got the response that is outright derogatory and threatening. The clarification has been deleted.

Shobhraj Pavoor

Shobhraj Pavoor responded by saying that he had expressed the problems he has faced because of petroleum price hike and those who had responded have expressed their opinions. "I would have been happy if they had provided information to oppose my comment. But the mindset of passing comments in this fashion may even disturb Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Therefore, I have not been watching the comments. What we write reflects what we are. People will decide on them," he stated.

Muneer Katipalla, in his Facebook post, said that actor Shobhraj Pavoor has been supporting Modi. "Just because he resisted the petrol price hike and the problems face by the people, he has been branded a traitor. A few days ago, when actor Arvind Bolar, mocked at fake astrologers, the followers of Modi had attacked him. The intolerant comments reflect their culture. Superstitions, fraud, and the attitude of crushing the voices of dissent are excesses that are dangerous. Conscious citizens including theatre artistes, cinema, writers and artists should raise their voices against these things," he has said.

The main problem is that the BJP and its supporters are equating their party and the PM with our country and any one criticizing the party or the PM or any decision of the government is considered “Anti National” . Every Indian agrees that the country must be respected and must not be criticized , however it should not be a criminal offense to criticize the policy of the ruling party or the government or its PM , especially if it is causing problems- like the petroleum price now.

Well done Sir, what we write and what we say, its reflects what we are, absolutely correct. When people elect dictators like minded, of course they will loose their democratic rights. Remember, this is not Vajapaye ji ‘s BJP, so don’t expect Vajapaye ji ‘s Rajadharma and love and respect for India and Indian people in present BJP. Remember to choose wisely,

The petrol bunk's should make two kinds of issuing pumps. 1) Exclusively for ordinary people to those Indian nationals. Selling price is ₹90/- or ₹100/- per litre 2) Exclusively for chaiwala bhaktas. Selling price is minimum ₹500/- per litre and above no limit. They can pay 1000/- or more because the bhaktas are telling they will pay even 1000/- or more per litre.

Readers senior citizens will recall the darkest period in the history, after achieving independence from the British, between 25th June 1975 to 21 March 1977.. When Emergency was imposed by a INC PM Indira Gandhi !!! Many will reveal the horror, toture, persecution, imprisonment, many dissapeared at the hands of a raging tyrant. The son of the soil, late Shri George Fernandes, went underground, to escape being ravaged by a desperate dictator... The present dysfunctional opposition parties, cannot hope to win elections, against the present NDA government... Hence they are creating anarchy, hoping that this present turbulence, would sink the ship, of the BJP government !!!!

This cowardly act, for an opinion, shows their sense of insecurity! Dissent is ‘safety valve’ of democracy: Justice Chandrachud Terming dissent as the "safety valve of democracy", Justice Chandrachud said that silencing of dissent and the generation of fear in the minds of people go beyond the violation of personal liberty and a commitment to constitutional values. This reminds me of the prophetic words of Winston Churchill who had said decades ago “Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India.” Indeed India is under the rule of a person who does not tolerate criticism. Anyone questioning him is branded anti-national. It is very tragic that his followers are not interested in the welfare of the country or its people. Just before the 2014 elections Dr. Manmohan Singh had said "If Modi comes to power, that will be disastrous for the country." He has been proved right. When hooligans start attacking those who oppose their leader and not a word is said against such acts, isn't it fair to say that we are no longer staying in a democratic set up.

The mindset of passing comments in this fashion does not disturb Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If he was a Statesman Like Vajpayee he would have stopped this attempts to Silence such voices of Dissent long long ago. After all he has proved beyond doubt he is not Statesman Material. Just because he resisted the petrol price hike and the problems face by the people, he has beING branded like a traitor. Such intolerant comments should be discouraged by the BJP/RSSto foster harmony in the society. No one passed such comments when Smirti Irani Jetley of Ravi Shankar Prasad staged road shows when prices were high during the UPA regime.

'Namo......Namage Mosa....Petrol Dhaga Dhaga....Diesel Dhaga Dhaga'. What is abusive in this phrase ? 'Dhaga.. Dhaga....' is a way of saying that something is burning or is at fire. What is wrong if we react if something is expensive ? Modi supporters are ready to pay even if the petrol/diesel price reaches Rs.1000/- but it is not same with everybody. You guys should instead stand in the Petrol stations and volunteer to pay the fuel price of those who can't afford than just supporting the PM just for the sake of supporting.

The problem here was nothing political. It was the rules of grammar and literature. We can't repeat same word in a single sentence. Instead of repeating Dhaga Dhaga, he should have said "petrol Dhaga Dhaga ....diesel bhaga bhaga". ಉಂದು ಎಂಚಿನ ಪಿರ್ಕಿ ಮಾರಾಯಾ!

Deshbhakt Mangalore there are two types of people in this world .One who knows what is Democracy ,other one dont know what it is.They simply take it every word what one speaks in a wrong way.Such ones are like lakai.followers of landlord. In demokracy one has the right to speak what is wrong going on and what should be done. But not tease or humiliate the leader or any deregatory comments .That is not allowed anywhere.and can be punished.Best is one should think over before speaks. or writes.
