Udupi: Deviprasad Shetty is President of Belapu GP for Sixth Consecutive Term

Udupi, Jun 24: Deviprasad Shetty was unanimously elected president of Belapu Gram Panchayat (GP) for the sixth consecutive time on Wednesday June 23.

He is perhaps the only person with the distinction of having been elected to the post six successive times in the state.

Shetty has been instrumental in availing both union and state funds of around Rs 8 crore during his term in order to develop Belapu village as a model in the country.  
 
He is also serving as president of Belapu Agricultural Co-operative Bank and chairman of social welfare project ‘Asare’, an old age home for the economically weaker senior citizens in Belapu village.  He is also the JD(S) district president.
 
Niranjan Shetty Paniyoor has been elected as vice-president of Belapu GP along with 10 members.
