Bengaluru: After four years in prison, Sasikala leaves for Tamil Nadu amid tight security

Bengaluru, Feb 8: Sasikala Natarajan, who was among a few persons considered to be very close to former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, the late J Jayalalithaa, who was incarcerated in Parappana Agrahara prison here for four years, had been released from the prison ten days back. She is returning to her home state, Tamil Nadu on Monday February 8, after a gap of four years.

A private escort contingent to accompany her back has arrived. Sasikala is proceeding to Tamil Nadu in a car that has AIADMK flag. She is headed for Chennai, accompanied by a posse of followers and police contingent.

When Sasikala left her resort near Nandibetta at 7.30 am on Monday February 8, her fans who were jumping out of excitement, broke the ash gourd as per custom, and welcomed her. Her close aide,Ilavarasi, and relative, T T Dinakaran,who were also jailed with Sasikala, too are returning to Chennai with her on Monday.

Hundreds of cars belonging to Sasikala's followers had arrived at Prestige Golf Share Resort on Nandibetta Road today morning. A large number of police presence were witnessed near the resort. Sasikala till take Devanahalli, Hebbal, Hennur, Marathhalli silk board, New road, and Atitbele route to reach Hosur border with Tamil Nadu. The police have not permitted the fans of the leader to celebrate within the city limits.

Sasikala's family had decided on the date of hier return to Chennai in consultation with the famous astrologer of the temple at Tiruvannamalai. It is said that he had given the dates of February 8 and 11. Officially Sasikala has been expelled from the AIADMK but her supporters holding the party flag have been accompanying her. Private escort in over eight vehicles has been provided to her. Sasikala will get a rousing reception on reaching Hosur from where she will move to Chennai in a grand procession.

At Chennai, Sasikala will offer respects at the tomb of the late J Jayalalithaa. There is a speculation that she might get busy with electoral politics of Tamil Nadu. However, Pannirselvam, amd Palaniswamy are determined to foil her bid to have a political stronghold in Tamil Nadu. Anyway, in days to come, Sasikala's action will reveal whether she still nurses political ambitions or not.
