Bengaluru, Feb 11 (IANS): Reversing the trend, 415 new Covid cases in a day outnumbered 322 recoveries across Karnataka, said the state health bulletin on Wednesday.

"With 415 new cases on Tuesday, the state's Covid tally increased to 9,43,627, including 5,875 active cases, while 9,25,489 recovered so far, with 322 discharged during the day," said the bulletin.

The infection, however, claimed three lives in Bengaluru, taking the state's death toll to 12,244 and the city's 4,411 since the pandemic broke in March 2020.

No casualty was reported in any of the 30 remaining districts across the southern state.

In Bengaluru, 208 fresh cases were registered on Tuesday, taking the city's Covid tally to 4,01,095, including 3,826 active cases, while 3,92,857 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours.

Of the 141 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 69 are in Bengaluru hospitals and 11 in Kallaburagi district, with the rest spread in the remaining districts across the state.

Out of 66,199 tests conducted during the day, 4,256 were through rapid antigen detection and 61,943 through RT-PCR method.

Positivity rate for the day was 0.62 per cent and case fatality rate 0.72 per cent across the state on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, 18,746 healthcare workers were vaccinated during the day, achieving 19 per cent of the 97,228 registered beneficiaries across the state.

In Bengaluru, 2,052 received the shot, accounting for 10 per cent of the 20,824 registered warriors.
