Mangaluru, Feb 12: Chaos prevailed at PVS Kala Kunj Road here on Friday February 12 after several JD(S) party workers tried to take out a protest march to gherao BJP office.
The JD(S) party workers were protesting against the BJP demanding expulsion of BJP district vice-president Jagadish Adhikari over his derogatory comments on Koti-Chennaya and Billawa leader Janardhan Poojary.
The protestors took out a march from near Sharada Vidyalaya to BJP office located on Kala Kunj Road. However, before they could complete the march, the police intervened and detained them.
The police led by ACP Jagadish, and personnel of Pandeshwar and Bunder police rounded up over 30 JD(S) party workers, including district Youth JD(S) president Akshit Suvarna, and took them away.
Jagadish Adhikari's statements on Koti-Chennaya and Janardhan Poojary have created a storm in the coastal region. Billawa leaders and politicians have demanded action against Adhikari. It may be recalled that corporator Pratibha Kulai even offered Rs 1 lac to anyone from Billawa community who blackens Adhikari's face, but retracted after he apologised and offered the amount for the education of underprivileged children. Adhikari has since been making amends, visiting temples, Koti-Chennaya Garodi and apologising publicly. He has also offered to apologise to Janardhan Poojary personally. However, the opposition has been adamant in demanding his expulsion from BJP.
