Chitradurga, Feb 13: Thipperudra Swamiji of Sharanara Sujnana Mantapa, upset that he was not appointed head of Yogavana Betta Peetha, on Saturday February 13 attempted suicide in the presence of minister of social welfare B Sriramulu.

The Swamiji tried to consume poison at the district BJP office when he came to visit the minister. But the minister intervened and stopped him. Police personnel immediately admitted him to district hospital. He is said to be out of danger.

Basavakumar Swamiji was appointed as head of Yogavana Betta after the death of Kapardi Siddalinga Swamiji. Thipperudra Swamiji had opposed Basavakumar Swamiji's appointment.

A letter in the form of a death note was found with Thipperudra Swamiji.

"I have experienced injustice from head of Yogavana Betta Peetha and Ganiga Gurupeeta Basavakumar Swamiji, former MLA S K Basavarajan and a woman named Pavitra. They are responsible for my death. Provide justice by protecting those who worked for Yogavana Betta," stated the Swamiji in the letter.

"I was campaigning for the religion and doing social work at Yogavana Betta. There was a conspiracy to throw me out. They have gone back on their promise and cheated me without paying compensation. They have thrown me to the street and destroyed the lives of those who were with me," he alleged.

"They have grabbed government land and are living a luxurious life. My campaign was not effective in between money and power. Therefore, I decided to end my life. S K Basavaraj has betrayed my trust. The government should punish the guilty. Justice should be provided to Poornananda Swamiji, Rudrappa and Kamalamma who worked for the Betta," he stated.

Yogavana Betta Maths are in Aldur in Chikkamagaluru, Kunigal in Tumakuru, Kanakapura in Ramnagar and in Chitradurga. Thipperudra Swamiji was overseeing the affairs at Yogavana Betta in Kunigal until Basavakumar Swamiji was appointed as its head.

was it a show in front of minister to tell the world he is not become the head?If he wanted to suicide would have done before anyone comes to know or silently.Such people ,all these swamies or heads of temples ,clad temple attire, but more seen in Politic and want the top position.why this? Are they interested to leave worldly aspects and serve God.Do they really ?Am really disappointed at this swamiji.Do God want a swami to serve temple ,and people only a top position?.I only can advice him be humble ,one can serve others or temple services as a normal one.Give to others a good example .God loves more humble ones and people too.

where there is power- Political/Religious/Money based/Title based most people lose their common sense and go after it eventually to suffer from it. Its sad saffron clad swamiji who is supposed to renounce attachments of kind, these days we see swamis & gurus from all religions holding onto power and fighting. And we normal people who follow them do not learn any lessions from their lives.

On the one hand, the so called Swamiji states that his campaign was not effective in between money and power and on the other side, he is upset for not getting the power within the Ashram..... Whatever may be the reason, why he is not booked for his attempt to suicide..... If there was something wrong in the Ashram which prompted him to do this act, book them for abetment to suicide.
