Riyadh: Ramesh Shetty Elected President of KWAR

Riyadh, Jun 28: Ramesh Shetty was unanimously elected as the president of Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) for the year 2010-11, at the organization’s second annual general body meeting, which was held at Bharath Restaurant hall in Malaz Riyadh on Friday, June 25.
 
The said association was formed in the year 2008, its prime objective being to carry on a campaign for direct flights to Mangalore. The association had also come into existence with the broader objective of solving many other problems and issues that have been bothering the people hailing from Mangalore and its surrounding areas in coastal Karnataka, who have settled down in the city.

The meeting started with a prayer by Prakash Shetty. Bhasker P M hosted the entire programme. His welcome address was interspersed with wit and humour, which have always been his forte, and succeeded in keeping the crowd fully entertained.
 
Outgoing president of KWAR, Vijay Rai, in his presidential address, presented a comprehensive report on the activities of KWAR. He covered issues like direct flights to Mangalore, charity programmes undertaken by KWAR, annual event, future plans, etc. He also emphasized on the importance of undertaking responsibilities by each and every member of the organization in the coming years, for the success of the organization. He thanked the members and the committee for the support extended to him during his tenure.
 
Nelson D'Souza presented the annual financial reports of the organization for the year 2009-10.
 
The Election Committee that took the dais thereafter was chaired by Ambrose D'Mello and Abdul Hameed Wenz. The present committee was dissolved and a new committee with 31 office bearers was formed.

Newly elected president, Ramesh K Shetty  Kalathur Angadi Guthu Udupi, has been working in Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia, since the last 28 years with M/s  O T E Group of Companies as its  marketing manager. He is also the founder of Riyadh Bunts Association (BARSA), which was formed in 2001.
 
Shetty thanked all the members for reposing confidence in him. He requested the cooperation and support of all the members towards taking KWAR to new heights in the coming years, and said that he will be putting in his best efforts towards this end.
 
Due to popular demand from the members, the committee was expanded to accommodate new members. Vote of thanks was proposed by Parvez Ali.
 
A delicious lunch was served to everyone present, at the beginning of the programme.
