Mangaluru, Feb 14: The Digvijaya Mahotsava Kashi Math's Srimad Samyameendrateertha Swamiji was held with pomp and splendour here on Saturday February 13.

The procession marking the festival began at Shree Venkataramana temple, Car Street, Mangaluru and proceeded via Mahamaya temple road, Dongerkeri, New Chitra circle before culminating back at Car Street.

The route was filled with lights and colourful decorations. Chants from Vedas, Kerala’s Chende music and Bhajans by women’s groups marked the procession.

The Swamiji first visited the temple of Raghupathi Narasimha deity and then Shree Venkataramana Temple, followed by the procession.

He was garlanded on behalf of Shree Venkataramana Temple management committee and the community in Mangaluru. It was followed by garlands from the office-bearers of GSB temples, Bhajana Mandalis and Kashi Math.

Temple trustee C L Shenoy, Prashanth Rao, Ramachandra Kamath, Mangaluru MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, GSB temple Okkoota president M Jagannath Kamath, Kokochim Tirumala temple trustee, office bearers of temples in Mumbai, Delhi and Kerala and community members took part.
