Disha formed WhatsApp group, shared 'toolkit' with Greta, say police; Tharoor condemns arrest

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS): Disha Ravi, arrested by the Delhi Police's cyber crime cell, is an editor of the 'Toolkit' Google Doc and a key conspirator in the document's formulation and dissemination and she started the WhatsApp group and collaborated to draft the document, the police said on Sunday.

She worked closely to draft the document, the Delhi Police said after Disha was taken into custody for five days.

"In this process, they all collaborated with pro-Khalistani Poetic Justice Foundation to spread disaffection against the Indian state. She was the one who shared the Toolkit doc with Greta Thunberg," said a senior police officer.

Disha who was arrested from Soladevanahalli area of Bengaluru on Saturday broke down in the courtroom and told the Duty Metropolitan Magistrate that she did not make the 'Toolkit' but only "edited two lines on February 3".

However, the Delhi Police also said that she asked Greta to remove the main document after its incriminating details accidentally leaked into the public domain. This is many times more than the two lines editing that she claims.

According to the police, the unfolding of events during the farmers' protest on January 26, including violence near the Red Fort, allegedly revealed copycat execution of the 'action plan' detailed in the 'toolkit'.

The Delhi Police had registered an FIR on February 4 on charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy and promoting hatred among groups under Sections 124-A, 120-A and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code against the "creators" of the 'toolkit', which was shared by climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Activists in jail, terrorists on bail: Shashi Tharoor on Disha arrest

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has reacted sharply to the arrest of Disha Ravi, the 21-year-old activist from Bengaluru, for her alleged involvement in sharing the 'toolkit' related to the farmers' protests.

Tharoor shared a picture of disgraced J&K DSP Davinder Singh who is out on bail, saying, "Activists in jail while accused terrorists are on bail. Wondering how our authorities would commemorate this case on the anniversary of Pulwama attack? You have the answer in this pair of headlines," as he shared the news of arrest of the climate activist.

Disha Ravi is one of the founders of the 'Friday for Future' campaign and allegedly edited the 'toolkit' and forwarded it on social media. She was picked up from her house in Soladevanahalli area of Bengaluru on Saturday.

The Delhi Police had registered an FIR on February 4 on charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy and promoting hatred among groups under Sections 124-A, 120-A and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code against the "creators" of the 'toolkit', which was later shared by global climate activist Greta Thunberg.

According to the police, the unfolding of events during the farmers' protest on January 26, including the violence at the Red Fort, allegedly revealed copycat execution of the 'action plan' detailed in the 'toolkit'.

The police said that the intention of the creators appeared to create disharmony among various social, religious and cultural groups and encourage disaffection and ill-will against the central government and aimed at waging social, cultural and economic war against India.

Look like in the Modi Raj, anyone who is objecting or saying against the government's policies is a criminal under sedition laws liable for severe punishment. In short; our democracy, freedom and Constitution is almost dead waiting to be buried. Modi Raj, Hindu militia Empire or Sanatan Dharam Kingdom is on the horizon. Indian youths and freedom fighters are urging the civilized world to help them against the powerful autocratic regime of Narendra Modi.

I agree that arresting an activist for "editing" and not writing is wrong, but you will also agree that the new farm laws will eliminate middle men , and it is the middle men who are protesting not the tiller. That is the reason why the protests are restricted to Punjab, Haryana and parts of UP only. Why are there no protests in South India. Actually if farmers are allowed to sell to anybody, including corporates they will earn more and we will get things of better quality and cheaper.Study the "Mandi " system in the northern states, you will find that the middle men are earning .If you go to the RTO in Mangalore and see the rates you will know that the "agent" earns 5-10 times what the RTO charges!!! Things have to change-for the better.

@Shankar hunting down Osama was correct, but you must admit that the twin towers attack was definitely an intelligence failure on the part of US. I am in favor of the new farm laws as it will eliminate middle men, and let me tell you that the govt. is trying to eliminate middle men in all govt. places including RTO, Income tax ,GST etc. which will be good for you and me, but at the same time some things are definitely in the wrong direction, which needs correction.Let me tell you I know the PM better than anyone else in Mangalore.

Every deed will have a history. If the concerned person has done this as one-off to show her SNS prowess, and did not know the implication, then this should be considered as honest mistake. On the contrary, it is not rocket science to find the ulterior motive, by just sifting through SNS activity history. If there is a pattern, then she should be given an opportunity to explain herself and if found guilty, punished according to relevant laws.

You raise voice against the current ruling Government, they will falsely label you to any outfits or terror organization of their choice and make Indians and world believe that they were dividing country..... They fear these voice cause they know how these junks have come to power by their cruelty and decisive nature.... Infact those who are ruling now have internally divided India on communal grounds and they are the original threat to India, but unfortunately the highly educated are among those who supports such party and rulers....

blind bhakts like Shankar will always praise the arrest of any person who speaks against the third rated laws brought about by the saffron party. Once arrested they will immediately link the arrested person to khalistan, lashkar, al qaida etc etc power is in their hand as well as the judiciary. So whatever they do is right. There is no democracy in this country since 2014..the gujju pair needs to be ousted soon. otherwise it will be dangerous especially for darpok state like Karnataka. This duo cannot do anything to other four south Indian states as the people over there do not give a damn to chaiwala or motu bhai

56 inch led saffron governments are good to arrest only girls and women who raise their voice against the party and slap them with treachery etc.. They donot have the guts to arrest a single farmer leader from Punjab or Haryana as they know very well that Punjabis do not give a damn to the crooks from gujjuland.. Only pukkela Kannadigas revere them like Gods and do not mind even if Kannada boards are not there during the inauguration of projects in Karnataka

Deep Siddhu who planted the Sikh flag on Red Fort was a member of Pro-Khailistani group who is a BJP activist was seen in photographs with Modi and Amit Shah. Farmers have disassociated with Deep Siddhu and his organization long ago who stirred up to turn farmer’s peaceful protest into violent clash. Greta and Disha too are victims of this smear campaign by Deep Siddhu to malign Greta and Disha’s humanitarian support for farmers.

Wonder what an eighteen year old, immature teenager called as Greta Thunberg, has any connection with Indian farmers ??? She created an explosion by mistakenly posting the " Toolkit " to create a systematic anarchy in New Delhi... Disha was the point of contact, for which she has been arrested... She is certain to sing like a canary, revealing more potent conspirators, who wanted to create anarchy, in our society..... We cannot forget Leona Amulya, for raising pro Pakistan slogans.. was influenced by the leftist lobbyists, who brainwashed her to accomplish their evil antinationals designs....
