Raichur: Four Perish in Accident Near Manvi

Raichur, Jun 28: In an accident that occurred at Hirehalla on the outskirts of Manvi town in the district on Sunday June 27, four persons lost their lives. Eight other passengers suffered injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Phakeerappa (30), Nagappa (24), Khwaja Saheb (30) and Mahalinga (22) from Nasalapura village in Manvi taluk. Two died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries at the local district hospital. Out of the eight injured passengers, the condition of two is stated to be critical.

About 25 people from Nasalapura had started their journey to Raichur in the above ill-fated vehicle, to watch the monsoon cultural festival being held in the city. Their vehicle, which reportedly was being driven recklessly, hit a roadside boulder and then tumbled down, it is learnt.

The injured were shifted to the taluk government hospital immediately. As vehicles were not immediately available to carry the injured people, the locals and policemen faced lot of problems. Circle inspector, Sharanappa Olekar, rushed to the spot and guided the operations.
