Udupi: ICYM Eliyarpadavu, Cletus D'Souza emerge winners of 'Godali Sadagara' crib contest

Udupi, Feb 16: ICYM Eliyarpadavu, Amblamogaru and Cletus D’Souza from Mangaluru emerged winners of the third edition of Udupi's Meatwale 'Godali Sadagara' Crib Photo Contest-2020 jointly organized by Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises and Uzward Fortnightly - Diocese of Udupi.

The Godali Sadagara contest received a very good response from the general public. This event was organized for the third time and more than 500 entries were received. The best ones made it to the top six spots in each category. The competitions were held in two categories - individual and group.

Group - Third - ICYM Pangla, St John The Evangelist Church

Group - Consolation - ICYM Balkunje, St Paul’s Church, Balkunje




Individual - First – Cletus D’Souza, Mangaluru




Individual - Second - Avinash Joel Castelino, Pangala




Individual - Third - Wilson Joyal Pais, Bantwal




Individual - Consolation - William Fernandes, Ankola




Individual - Consolation - Archibald Furtado, Santhekatte




Individual - Consolation - Dolphy D’Cruz, Bantwal

Fr Royson Fernandes, editor of Uzward Konkani Fortnightly of the diocese of Udupi congratulating all the participants of the crib competitions said, "This year more participants took an active part in the event. Through the event, we want to encourage the young and old to take forward our tradition. Covid-19 has not dampened our spirit. As more participants participate in the shows, our faith in God has not come down."

Kishore Gonsalves in his message said, "It was overwhelming to see so many entries for the contest and the increasing response each year, not only in numbers but also in the quality of the presentations. It was very difficult to judge and decide the winners as each crib outdid the other making it a neck-to-neck competition. We thank all the participants and congratulate everyone as they are all winners for us.

The contest was supported by Meatwale – Udupi, Alwyn Bakery - Udupi, Dresser – Udupi, Souza Electronics and Furniture, S Nuts – By Souza Cashews - Udupi, Here v Go celebrations, Bake Factory – Brahmavar and Girija Health Care and Surgicals, Udupi.

Group

First – ICYM Eliyarpadavu, Amblamogaru
Second - ICYM Hosabettu, Holy Cross Church Hosabettu
Third - ICYM Pangala, St John the Evangelist Church

Respective prizes were Rs 6,000, 5,000, 4,000 along with trophy and certificate.

Consolation prizes

ICYM Vijayadka, St Lawrence Church, Vijayadka, ICYM Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Kuppepadava, ICYM St Paul’s Church, Balkunje, respectively won Rs 1,000


Individual

First – Cletus D’Souza, Mangaluru
Second - Avinash Joel Castelino, Pangala
Third - Wilson Joyal Pais, Bantwal

Respective prizes were Rs 5,000, 4,000, 3,000 along with trophy and certificate.

Consolation prizes

William Fernandes, Ankola, Archibald Furtado, Santhekatte, Dolphy D’Cruz, Bantwal respectively won Rs 1,000 along with trophy and certificate.
