Mangaluru, Feb 17: The deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Dr KV Rajendra laid down a set of coronavirus protocols to be mandatorily followed. "Hostels, hotel, homestay, resorts, malls, educational institutions will be considered as containment zones if there are more than five cases reported in such establishments," Rajendra said.

"It will be the responsibility of the management to ensure that the coronavirus protocols are being followed by the students and staff of the concerned organization. We will seek a list of staffs, students from Kerala who are working in hotels, malls, educational institutions from the MCC health officer and submit it to district health and family welfare officer. The staff of the respective institutions will be responsible to pay for the RT-PCR test," he added.

"A list of workers who are of Kerala-origin employed at hotels, malls and other organizations in the town municipal council, town panchayat limits should be submitted to respective taluk health officers. The list of the concerned in the rural limits is to be submitted to primary health care officials so that the RT-PCR tests are conducted," DC said.

The DC also informed that a special team has been formed to conduct random RT-PCR and RAT test at Talapady toll gate for the people arriving from Kerala.

The management of respective educational institutions should submit the list of students who are of Kerala-origin to the health department and ensure that the RT-PCR test is conducted every 15 days, deputy commissioner Rajendra stated.

"The hotels should seek RT-PCR report before 72 hours from people who are coming from Kerala and staying at lodges. A special team has been formed to keep an eye on violations. In the event any violations are reported, strict action will be taken as per the Epidemic Diseases Act," the DC warned.
