Mangaluru: Young Jeshma D’Souza battling blood cancer passes away

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 18: Jeshma D’Souza, who was suffering from Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer passed away on Thursday February 18 at a private hospital here in the city.

She was admitted to a private hospital four days ago after her health condition suddenly turned critical. Since November 2019, she was battling the disease which had entered the 4th stage. She was suggested immediate chemotherapy then.

Jeshma’s parents had spent all their resources for the chemotherapy treatment. They had later appealed to Daijiworld’s generous readers for generous contributions to help meet the treatment costs.

Jeshma’s family members have expressed their heartfelt gratitude and thanked all the readers of Daijiworld who extended their wholehearted support during the time of distress.

It may be recalled, Daijiworld had published an appeal seeking financial help to Jeshma’s specialized treatment in December 2019. Readers from all over the world came forward to help the family with wishes and prayers. A sum of Rs 31 lac was donated by large-hearted human beings, crossing all the boundaries of caste, creed and religion for the cause.

Sources from the family informed that Jeshma’s funeral will be held at 5 pm on Thursday February 18 at St Antony Church, Allipade, Bantwal.

God says give food to those who are hungry, give clothes for those who are naked, give shelter for those who are homeless, give generously and look after the sick. So many generous people came forward and helped her parents to save her life, still God took her away from us. Very very sad news, this pretty young and intelligent girl with an ambition to going abroad left us for ever. I do not know her but as i type this message of condolence my eyes have become teary and I pray to JESUS to grant her eternal rest. My deepest heartfelt sympathies to her mom and dad and the rest of the family Victor Marcel Fernandes Brampton, Canada

Very heartbreaking to read this news, I can only empathize with Jeshma's parents of what they were and are going through, cause as parents we have gone through this harrowing experience of seeing your loved one go through this. Pray that our good Lord grant eternal rest to Jeshma and give her parents the strength to bear this loss and grace to know that Jeshma is in heaven.

God looked around his garden And found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids And whispered, ‘Peace bethine’. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.

RIP jeshma God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be; So he put his arms around you, And whispered, “Come to me”. With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away; Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Ms Jeshma was my student during her UG studies in Medical Lab technology and later joined Microbiology department as Lab technologist.. a bright student , a able and dedicated staff, she had dreams .. her own dreams to make it big in life , to take care of her family ..give something back to the society .. But fate didnt give her chance .All her dreams were shattered when she was diagnosed with cancer .. But she was not the the one to give up .She fought with confidence with a smile on her face .. Finally today morning she surrendered herself to the deadly disease . When i saw her today with white gown in the morgurey i just remembered that confident girl entering my class .'. Mam i want to go abroad and work i want to earn well mam ..i have to take care of my family .' she told me when i asked her whether she is interested in further studies . Jeshma you have done your best . You have fought your battle till your last breath . . You will be remembered and missed by us all ..Rest in peace .. heartfelt condolences to your family and friends
