Deve Gowda Will Pay IAF Dues Within Three Days of Court Order

Bangalore, Jun 30: Former Prime Minister and JD-S chief H D Deve Gowda on Wednesday said he will pay Rs 54 lakh dues to the Indian Air Force, which has approached the Delhi High Court to recover the money.

"I will pay the entire dues once the high court orders. Within three days of the order, I will pay the amount," he told reporters here. The IAF has approached the Delhi High Court to recover the dues from Gowda for the use of its aircraft allegedly for non-official purposes.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has filed a suit in the Delhi High Court to recover about Rs 54 lakh from former prime minister H D Deve Gowda who had hired its aircraft for private use during the 1996-97 election campaign. The IAF has been trying to recover the dues from the JD-S chief since 1996-97.

According to the official document, Rs 54,61,497 and Rs 5,91,31,476 are due from Deve Gowda and Chandrasekhar respectively. “It is mentioned that Shri Chandrashekhar, Shri P V Narasimha Rao, Shri H D Deve Gowda and Shri V C Shukla had availed of airlift facilities of the IAF for non-official purposes during their tenure as prime ministers and cabinet minister,” said a reply of the IAF to an RTI application. The suit against Deve Gowda is pending in the court of Registrar, High Court of Delhi.

The Ministry of Defence has resorted to various legal and administration measures, including filing of civil suits to recover the above amounts, the reply to RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal said. On a question whether the authorities proposed to recover the dues from the late  Chandrasekhar, the reply is categorical: “The civil suit against Chandrasekhar in Delhi High Court in 2001 was dismissed on January 24, 2008, on account of his death.”

“Based on the advice of Ministry of Law and Justice, an appeal is proposed to be filed in the Delhi High Court to recover airlift dues from his legal heirs/political party,” said the reply. The suit against Deve Gowda is pending in the court of Registrar, High Court of Delhi.

How many of you can come up with 54 lakhs cash to pay off what you owe?
Firstly- you do not pay, then you come up with the cash when dragged to court, then you stone wall .

Only Politicians have cash laying around their house- He calls himself a son of the soil- farmer- my foot
Shame on you Gowda and his supporters.

Why the hell he is waiting for the court order? He should settle the dues with no hanky panky. He fooled Karnataka people and still he is doing so. If he doesn't pay the said amount people will tear and pull his dhothi and bring him into the road naked.
I only pray to God let him live until he settle the bills other wise IAF has to forgo the dues pending by him.

See here farmers leader....travelling with respcted IAF planes and not paying for that. It is great insult to Air Force. Mr. Gowda you are talking big things in Karnataka, disrespecting the IAF. Really we are ashamed to have a politician like you. If you are Mannina Maga then why are you not travelling in bullok cart and KSRTC red bus. Why are trvelling luxurious car and planes. All you can do is distrub any government in karnataka where you & your sons not part of that. Dont betray the poor, inocent farmers. We suggest our farmers that please dont come in the words of these people. Help in developing the state.

I hope they collect the interest and other fees involved for so many years waiting. If this would have involved common people then their houses and properties would have been confiscated long back but for politicians they have different rules it seems. Shame on these culprits.

HD Devegowda's trust in democracy is appriciated. And as far himself concerned he will bow to the court order and this is called accountability.

Having said that what about other ministers who are availing state chopper or any means of transportation for a private ride.

Why wait till the Court orders Mr Gowda? You know and agree you have made IAF to wait and take actions for the dues from you, then if you have any respect and morality, pls pay the dues immediately. At least, for this you will gain some respect. It is not a big amount, but pea nuts for you. So without delay pay the dues to Indian Air Force.

He disgraced the name of Karnataka, as he was a super flop PN. He used to sleep during his official working hours while he was PM. His salary accordingly should be deducted while recovering the dues for non-official use of IAF aircraft. Believe me he is not even worth riding a Bicycle! We heard that many politicians backstabbed their mentors, but this man stomach stabbed his mentor, i.e. the late Mr. Ramakrishna Hegde. Recently he has used some foul language for the current CM of Karnataka. Only a petty thief will use such language!

Well done IAF.. You have proved that no one can mess with Indian defence forces. I would rather suggest, that IAF should be given the authority to take up the trail and justify Deve Gowda in the military court.

If gowda pay the outstanding to IAF, then this would be a history and will cherish thru' out in indian history. Shame on these politicians.
