Udupi: Server problem at taluk office - People made to queue up for hours

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Mar 10: The Atalji Janasnehi Kendra at the taluk office here has not been functioning as per the people's aspirations. People come to the taluk office from different areas for getting some documents but even after standing in the queue for several hours, they find that their effort has been going waste and their documents are not available. This is giving rise a sense of indignation in them.

People stand in the queue the whole day to get the service they needed. In Some cases, even after standing in the queue for three to four days continuously, they fail to get the thing they need the most. In most rural families, the male members go out for work. Therefore many women are seen waiting for their turn with small children in tow.

The people begin to form the queue from 9 am. The taluk office staff arrive at 10 am and begin to serve the people. Because of server problems, registration of only a few people is possible. It is also said that the server problem can be addressed if more computers are introduced. This will relieve the people of the need to wait for several hours. It is said that requests placed with the tahsildar for additional computers to address the issue have not found favour.

As records like caste and income certificate for scholarship etc have to be submitted within time, people doggedly wait for their work. Sometimes they skip their meal. A parent said that academic-related work of students are stuck because of non-issuance of documents in time. One of the parents, Kalyani Bhat, said that the people are very busy but they have to set aside several hours for routine documents which are required for school and college admission, record of rights etc.

Tahsildar Pradeep Kurdekar says that when developing the software, such problems were encountered initially but the server problem has since been addressed.

It is common problems at all the government departments.Concerned authorities should be blamed for this kind of permanent severe and server problem. When concerned authority or department can't fix or address these kind of problems, why the hell he or she sitting on the chair?.He or she is incapable.Head of the department is responsible for this kind failures.Poor public are the sufferers. At least concerned department or authority should have the human heart to understand the problems faced by the public in getting their works done. Also dirty games are being played by the staffs in the name of server and putting the public in great trouble.Who will tie the bell in the neck of cat?.This is all blame game

We talk big on digitalisation. But it is pathetic situation when we see systems in Govt departments. Why cant they fix the server issue, Is it capacity issue? or corruption? Any scheme of Govt will be a flop if the system situation does not improve.

This kind of situation is common in IT city Bangalore. Every now and then, Govt offices stop working because of "system going down". State Govt does not consider it important to organise proper maintenance team or carry out any preventive maintenance. In the name of digital India, all kind of problems are created by such situations.
