Mangalore: Catholic and CSI Bishops Felicitated by Milagres Church

Mangalore Jul 12: Milagres Church Centenary Celebrations Committee had organized a get together of the Milagres parish community and the Shanthi Cathedral community, Balmatta here, at Milagres Jubilee Hall in the city on Sunday July 11.

The ecumenical prayer service held at Milagres Church was followed by a cultural programme, fellowship, get together and felicitation function. 

The programme began with a welcome dance, choreographed and performed by a 14 year-old girl, Steffy Pereira.

Chairperson of the Centenary Organizing Committee, Marcel Monteiro, delivered the welcome address.


































Senior citizen, Chevalier Clarence Pais, felicitated Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, and Bishop of CSI- KSD (Church of South India- Karnataka Southern Diocese), Dr John S Sadananda.

Bishop, Dr John S Sadananda, who was the chief at the programme, said he was thankful to St Joseph seminary for welcoming him and conducting a get together programme of both the Christian communities. He expressed the opinion that by showing gratefulness to the Lord, the communities are now united under the umbrella of the blessings of Jesus Christ. He also added that the tradition of organizing a cultural event for which a fellow CSI church head was given a felicitation by a neighbouring Catholic church, has ushered in a new tradition, which is most welcome. He hoped that such programmes would also be organized in their church in future, in an effort to get united under the glory of God.

Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, in his guest message, said his community was tired of listening to his speeches time and again. “Two shepherds have brought us together to celebrate the great event together. I am thankful to them for marking this programme as one of the 100 programmes planned for celebrating the centenary. This get together is the will of the God. This will lead us towards progress, precision and perfection in life, and to pave way to heaven is through our neighbourers,” he noted.

Vote of thanks was proposed by the vice president of the parish pastoral council, Alwyn Rosario.

Secretary of the parish pastoral council, Gerald Pinto, and chairperson of the Centenary Celebrations Organizing Committee, Marcel Monteiro, were present.

MAY THE MIGHTY ,LOVING GOD SHOWER HIS POWERFUL BLESSINGS UPON ALL THE PERSONALITIES WHO HAVE EXERTED HARD EFFORTS IN BRINGING UP SUCH AN EVENT WHICH HAS LIFTED UP THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY AND SHOWN TO THE WORLD THE UNITY BETWEEN THEM .MAY OUR REV.BISHOP .ALOYSIUS.D'SOUZA ALONG WITH ALL THE CLERGY AND NUNS BE BLESSED BY THE GOOD GOD AND MAY ALL THE SCATTERED SHEEP OF THIS FLOCK COME BACK TO TAKE SHELTER UNDER THEIR CARE.
