Bangalore: 'Chief Minister is Scared of Bellary Brothers'

'Chief Minister is Scared of Bellary Brothers'

Bangalore, Jul 14 (PTI) : Pandemonium broke out in Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday after the Opposition raised the issue of alleged illegal mining scam leading to adjournment of the House for the day.

"I apologise to the people of Karnataka that I am not able to conduct the business," Speaker K G Bopaiah said adjourning the Assembly to meet tomorrow (Thursday), shortly after it met this morning with Opposition Congress and JDS continuing their indefinite dharna in the House demanding CBI probe into the mining scam.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said Lokayukta was already probing the issue of illegal mining since 2002-03 and has "full powers" to conduct investigation in this regard.

"Let's wait for the Lokayukta's report", he said, adding, ordering a CBI inquiry would lead to "delay" as the Lokayukta was already on the job. He sought to turn the tables on the Opposition saying, "There is suspicion the Opposition is demanding CBI probe to bury the issue (mining scam) as mostly it's the Congress and JDS leaders who are involved (in illegal mining and exports)."

Yeddyurappa asked why the then Chief Ministers S M Krishna and H D Deve Gowda chose not to order CBI investigation (whenever the then opposition demanded such probes)."

Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah (Congress) said the loss to the state exchequer due to the scam was to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore. He then started accusing the ruling BJP government in the state of not doing anything for those affected by the floods last year, which was objected to by the Chief Minister.

As Siddaramaiah protested there were "attempts to curtail" his speech by ruling party members who were on their toes shouting anti-Opposition slogans, leading to din in the House as the Speaker adjourned it for the day.

"He is the 'goonda' Chief Minister. He cajoled ruling party MLAs to silence us. Only fascists can do like this," a combative Siddaramaiah, who appeared visibly upset at the abrupt adjournment, told reporters later.

"He (Yeddyurappa) is not handing over the probe to CBI as he is scared of Bellary brothers (Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy and Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy). He wants to save his chair. My inference is that Yeddyurappa has totally colluded with them," he said. "Even today illegal mining is taking place in Bellary."

Sticking to its stand, the government reiterated it would not order a CBI probe as Home Minister V S Acharya accused the Opposition of being "obsessed with CBI."

"We have seen how CBI functions," Acharya told reporters after the Legislative Council was adjourned for the day as the opposition continued its dharna, disrupting the proceedings for the third straight day.

He asked why the then Home Minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge rejected the demand of the then Opposition for a CBI probe into the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket when the Congress was in power in the state. He also referred to other cases in the past where the then Congress government had turned down similar demands.

The Opposition members continued their dharna overnight seeking to mount pressure on the government to concede their demand for CBI probe. They spent their second straight night on the premises of the Assembly - sleeping inside the House and in the lobby - as the issue snowballed.

JDS leader H D Revanna, who is the son of former Prime Minister H D Devegowda, described the plundering of iron ore in the past seven years as a "Rs 20,000 crore scam."

This is the the best example for dual standard of Congress and JDS. The issue started on Lokauktha resignation then the issue is diverted to illigal mining and deamand for probe on illigal mining and govt agreed to all the deamand of cong & jds. Lokayuktha withdrawn resignation and oppinted upalokayuktha and given more power to them. Till then con & jds demands lokayuktha probe on illigal mining, once the govt approved then the con & jds demanding CBI Probe. One thing is clear that CON & JDS are doing unethical dharana in this regard. Cong & Jds wants to delay the probe by asking for CBI Probe. When BJP as oppossition demanded for CBI probe on Telagi issue how Congress rejected. (SM Krishna).Finaly people of the state elected the these opposition leaders not to sleep in vidhana soudha. They should discuss the core issue of a common man, water, price rise,Belgaum issue and many more.Lokayuktha mr. Santhosh hegde is the best available investigation officer in the state.

The Guru, Mangalore. You are saying, there is no one in BJP involved. All right we agree. But CM himself agrees there is illegal mining happening, worth thousands of crores. So, action need to be taken against those who indulge in such illegal activities.

As a citizen who loves his country, please demand CBI enquiry - as that is the only institution capable and has authority to stop illegal mining, second, punish the guilty - how influencial they are, third, confiscate their illegal wealth. Be a Indian and demand justice for people.

A fellow shakes your hand before the election definitely will shake you after the election. Politicians are the same allover, they promise build a bridge where there is no river. Democracy means govt by discussion, but it is only effective if you stop people talking. The matter is with the people's hands and you need not handover this case to CBI, just go to human beings they will tell you the truth.

Why CM is so scared to hand over the investigation to CBI ? Why he gives excuses of past illegal mine operation ? Let him be clean and handover the issue to CBI. Why is he giving support to outsiders to loot our, Kannadigas wealth ? Let CBI make enquiry from 2003 till date. Let them crucify the culprits. Oppositon, pls. stick to your demand.

Why BJP is putting the step behind to give it to CBI? DAAL MEIN KUCH KAALA HAI zaroor. It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from falling into error it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error.

All the people of Karnataka are worried about the politicians just because of wrong ion. Now only the thing we can do is stop illegal mining and nothing is recoverable from those who have looted. Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it is awfully hard to get it back in.

Mafia of Bellary and the Bellary

    cabinet.Everybody knows the back-
ground of Reddy Brothers and Sri
Ramulu who have destroyed the resources of Karnataka.Janardana Reddy has d that he would
make his great Amma the future PM!
He might do this by spending hundres of thousands of crores
he had earned by illegal mining.
This money belongs to the people
of Karanataka and not to the Reddy
Brothers or the BJP High Command
    who is protecting these robbers.
Its a goonda raj and not Rama raj

What is happening in Karnataka is “Draupadi vastraharan” like scene. A few powerful, corrupt and wicked ministers Read Duryodhan, Dushyashan , etc are looting daughter of India (Karrnataka Tunujate) and the person blind for his chair and power (Dratharastra Yeddy) either cannot see this or do not want to take action for fear of his chair. This has put our wonderful state in to shame.

Tell us who has the capacity to take action against these evil ministers? Definitely not the people of Karnataka as are bound by the oath as they given power and authority for this corrupt govt for another three years.

In Draupadis case Lord Krishna comes to her rescue. But here Krishna is busy with his foreign ministry assignment.

Under such intolerable circumstances who else can save Karanataka , other than the Senior most person in the Administration Bishma Pitha H R Bhardwaj, even though he has taken oath to safeguard Karnataka Gaddi ?
