Moodbidri, Jul 14: A Maruti Omni that was fitted with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) was gutted in a fire while in motion at Alangar, on Wednesday July 14.

The vehicle, owned by city resident Sadashiv, was gutted in a fire while it was heading towards the city at about 2.30 pm on Wednesday.

Sadashiv and the other passengers got out of the automobile as soon as they detected smoke coming from the engine chamber located very close to the driver’s seat.

Fire brigade personnel arrived and extinguished the fire.  The automobile was totally damaged in the fire. Such incidents have been on the rise in the recent past across Dakshina Kannada district.

Traffic was blocked for nearly 10 minutes and was restored by traffic police who arrived on the spot as soon as possible.

Why the people fitting the gas lng. is this realy cost cutting? i dont think so! I iam thinking LNG is time bomb any time will explode? specially summer time. one small leakage enough to blast, some school vans fitted with LNG.for the sake of 15 or 20rs you are driving with LNG TIME BOMB.

    Hi STALIN MISQUITH,
I agree with you that LNG is dangerous, But you can see clearly a domestic LPG GAS cylinder. This might have been connected with no standard gas kit. Which most of the private car owners use is illegal.

NOW A DAYS THESE INCIDENTS ARE HAPPENING DUE TO CARELESSNESS AND LEAKAGE OF GAS. LNG GAS IS VERY DANGEROUS THAN FUEL.
