Yeddy Meets Governor, says NO to CBI Probe

Bangalore, Jul 16 (PTI) : Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Friday called on Governor H R Bhardwaj, who is gunning for the removal of Reddy brothers from the state ministry, and conveyed the government's stand against a CBI inquiry into the illegal mining scam at this stage.

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Friday called on Governor H R Bhardwaj, who is gunning for the removal of Reddy brothers from the state ministry, and conveyed the government's stand against a CBI inquiry into the illegal mining scam at this stage.

Yeddyurappa, accompanied by state Home Minister Dr V S Acharya and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S Suresh Kumar, held discussions with the Governor for about 40 minutes at the Raj Bhavan.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Yeddyurappa said "It was a cordial meeting with the Governor and I explained to him the prevailing developments and the steps taken to strengthen the institution of Lokayukta". The Governor was also informed that the illegal mining was under Lokayukta probe, he said in the backdrop of Bhardwaj meeting President Pratibha Patil and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and raising the issue of continuance of Reddy brothers, facing charges of illegal mining, in the Ministry.

Sticking to his government stand of not referring the illegal mining issue to CBI investigation, Yeddyurappa said he had told the Governor "now it is not proper to entrust the matter to CBI probe. If we do it now, it would further delay the enquiry process."
"The Governor told me that Karnataka is one of the best administered states and the law and order situation is good compared to entire country," Yeddyurappa said.

He said during the course of his discussion, he also informed the Governor on the conduct of opposition parties which have been disrupting the proceedings in both houses of legislatures over the mining issue. "Instead of participating in debates, the opposition parties have decided to go on padayatra, which is most unfortunate, undemocratic and unconstitutional," he said.

The governor, who has already referred to Election Commission a complaint against three Bellary ministers-cum mining magnets -- G Janardhana Reddy, G Karunakara Reddy and B Sreeramulu--seeking their disqualification as MLAs on the ground that they were holding office of profit, had virtually demanded the dismissal of these ministers.

    Mr.Jemiyar kuwait
I am not Reddys supporter as you have assumed to be. I am BJP supporter. I am equally pained like you at the loot and plunder of our natural resources by Reddy brothers ( plunder is assumed by media and opposition party and by us too). CBI has become congress bureau of investigation as stated by Mr.Longolachary below. It has failed misreably and bungled up many investigation. The horrific blunder being giving clean chit to Pander, the human cannibal in NOIDA children rape and mass killing case. Arushi cases, bofors etc. Every time it gets pulled up by various courts for its failure.

    Jemiyar, kuwait,

By and large your comments appears fair to me....

However remember, CBIs reputation is worse than Reddys, just look at what CBI did in any case assigned to them...Late Ramakrishna Hegde assigned Rashid murder case to CBI honestly believing RL Jalappa was innocent.., and regreted rest of his life for doing so...

What did CBI do in late Dr Chittaranjan's murder case in Bhatkal?

What did CBI did in Arushi murder case in Noida?? arresting father without any proof???

Congress will use CBI to get whatever they want to get..., with 50 years experienced lawyer in Raj Bhavan(sic), Deve Gowda singing, Bangarappa dancing to chorus, you know the outcome.... right?

Now, if Reddys are kicked out, its good for Yediyurappa, BJP, and State Of Karnataka.

    God Bless and Jai Hoooooooooooo

WHY THE CONGRESS LEADERS ARE INSISTING ON CBI ENQUIRY ONLY?THEY ARE ASSURED OF AN ENQUIRY FAVOURABLE TO THEM? AS CONGRESS, JDS & BJP PARTIES ARE INVOLVED THE BEST OPTION IS JUDICIAL ENQUIRY.

Ninette Mangalore - You said - all of us here are born with God given brains that enables us to think what is right and wrong. Some of the comments make one wonder why they are blindly following the wrongdoers and lavishing praises - Cannot it apply to yourself ? What do you know about politics? isn't the puppet governer acting in the partisan way? we are not against any enquiry and against anybody either. Keep your wisdom and advice to yourself.

ounfortunately the GOD has not given you the brain required to opine in an impartial way. What makes you think governer right? This is problem in our human society, people like you are living, though looks like human but live under influence of hearsays.

I think all of us here are born with God given brains that enables us to think what is right and wrong. Some of the comments make one wonder why they are blindly following the wrongdoers and lavishing praises. It does not matter whether they are from congress, BJP or any other group, primarily they are voted by the general public like you and me with a hope of having reliable leaders. Instead of condoning their despicable actions, the general public should make them accountable for all the wrong doings.

    S. Moorthy, Nagesh Nayak and M. Bhat, there is nothing wrong in showing all out support to the party in general. But to keep a party in place, it needs to have people who understand and respect the oath taken by them. Ever wonder why everyone is against CBI investigation?

It is immaterial which party the culprit ministers belong to, the CBI should be given a go ahead immediately to investigate this case and bring them to justice.

    Dear People of Karnataka:

Why the CM is afraid of CBI, if he is having clean hands. Let the CBI does the enquiry and findout the truth. The Truth will surely prevail. Governor is doing his duty to his responsilities. If they do not want CBI enquiry let there be an election and see the winners are right. Otherwise there will be only fighting betwen the BJP and oppositions. Let us have peace in Karnataka.

Attacking Christians and Muslims and backward classes and minorities and stoping cow slaughtering should be totally vanquished for ever in Karnataka. For some may be it is a holy animal but for most of the Indians it is our daily food. No one can stop some body's food. India is a free country and let all of us practice their constitutional rights.

Chief Minister, ministers, members of the legislature, and public servants nominated by the government will remain off limits for the Lokayukta institution. So what is our toothless tiger going to probe? This is just another time pass tactic played by Yedurappa.
People of Karnataka are not idiots. We all know his game plan for survival – Stick around for another 3 years – Loot and Plunder then disappear.

Coming to Gov's so called marking of Karnataka Govt's A grade nothing but pack of lies.Mr Yeddi now talking what he wishes- example,he accused Deshpande and Jalappa as illeagal miner and the very next day withdrwan the statement and apolizised!!!Then think of his seriouness!!!!Now he is buttering to Govt to be in good book of his because @ this crucial juncture Gov's report matters a lot.

    Dear Madhav Nayak,
You have rightly said about Nagesh Mamu. Now Nagesh Mamu is saying "Hum Sath Sath Hai" When there is a real problem Nagesh Mamu will say "Hum Aap Ke Hai Kaun"
I dont support any political party coz i don't trust any.
But Mamu has some justification for every act. B'Coz Priyanka Vadra met Rajiv's killers our health minister goes n meets all the inmates. Wow that's a real justification Mamu!!
    Anyway get well soon!!

The CBI probe at the Reddy brothers
will create a major friction against the CM, and the ministry
    may crash. To avoid it,
the CM is playing a strategic
    game plan by dissuading the
    Governor to block the CBI
    investigation. Why did the CM
went all the way to Delhi
    begging them to curtail the
    illegal mining in Karnataka?
Now requesting the Governor to change plans!

I am against corruption and favouritism, but this person has thrown the rule book to wind and behaved in a manner, which is contrary to oath admisitered to him.

Regarding the CBI Enquiry I dont think it will serve any purpose other than dragging this case for another 5 years!!.Any way the concerned ministers should be ped under "Holding profitable offices"

Very professional approach by Mr. Yediyurappa. What opposition is doing is very dirty and uncostitutional. They are behaving like childrens. Even they dont know what they are doing. It is not 70s & 80s. Now media is covering everyhting. These people are sent to solve our problems. but from past 5 days they are wasting our money and they are enjoying in the assembly. It is visible in all the channels. This is congress and JDS culture. People of this state to reply.
