Beary Sahitya Academy Holds Tulu Sangama for Community

Mumbai, Jul 18: One-day programme Beary Tulu Sangama was held by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Mangalore at Dr Visvesvaraiah auditorium, Matunga (West) here on Saturday July 17.

After inaugurating the programme beating the Duff instrument, Kannadiga Jornalists’ Association president Chandrashekar Palethady said that the organization of the programme has been successful in refuting the claim that Bearys are communal. The programme reinforces that Bearys inherently have Tulu culture. The Muslims of the Mangalore region in Karnataka are known to be religious and peace loving. It is unfortunate that recent times have seen increased communal tensions owing to politicization of religion, he added.



Presiding over the programme, Karnataka Sangha, Virar – Nalasopara president Shankar Shetty Virar said that it is very important to recognize Beary as one of the cultured, educated and responsible community. Most of all there should be no discrimination against the community and they need to be treated equally, he added.

Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president M B Abdul Rehman in his address said that in this age of politicization, the role of culture and literature to unite people is crucial. Humanity is above all and need of the hour, he added.

Businessman Subash Alva and Bhandary Seva Sangha, Mumbai president Balakrishna P Bhandary were the guests of honour.

Multi-lingual poetry session was held as part of the programme under the presidentship of Dr Sunita M Shetty (Tulu). Kodu Bhoja Shetty (Tulu), Shimantoor Chandrahas Suvarna (Tulu), Mohammed Kulai (Beary), Hussain Katipall (Beary), Shubhada Katawkar (Hindi), Akshata Deshpande (Marathi) and Rons Bantwal (Konkani) recited poetries.

Padmanabha Sasihitlu and troupe presented poem-singing. Seetaram R Shetty compered the session.

    Good work. I salute all the Tulu- Beary veterans, youths who made this event successful. I can see a light of bright future for Tulu- Beary unity. Infact Beary language is born out of Tulu. Tulunadu people having a rich culture. Tulunadu shining here....hats-off.

    PERFECT SANGAMA OF BEARYS AND TULUVARUS.BEARYS AND TULUVARS ARE INEVITABLE FEATURES OF TULUNADU OR KUDLAITES.THE LANGUAGE,CULTURE, HISTORY,AND THE WAY OF LIVING ARE GOES HAND IN HAND.

    "BEARYS,ARE TULU SAMAJADA AVIBHAJYA ANGA"IN THE RECENT PAST DUE TO SOME ORG'S MISINFORMATION AND MISGUIDING THE RELATIONSHIP OF BOTH ARE BIT OF FROZEN STATUS WHICH GRADUALLY THAWING.THIS SANGAMA ONE STEP FORWARD IN CEMENTING GOOD OLD RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE COMMUNITIES.

    MR CHANDRASHEKAR PALETHADY,KANNADIGA JORNALIST ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT,AND CHIEF EDITOR OF "KARNATAKA MALLA DAILY" MUMBAI ALSO WAS PRESIDENT OF D.K ZILLA YUVAJANA OKKOOOTA WHOM I, WORKED WITH HAS GREAT ORGANAISING CAPACITY TO PROMOTE PEACEFUL COEXISTING BETWEEN THE COMMUNITIES.
