Kumaraswamy Provides ‘proof on Reddy’s Illegal Mining’

Bangalore, Jul 20 (DHNS): JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy, on Monday alleged that Ananthpura Mining Corporation (AMC) owned by Minister Janardhana Reddy was into illegal mining in the State.

Releasing certain documents to support his allegations, Kumaraswamy demanded that the minister resign.

Kumaraswamy made the allegations within hours after Reddy told the press that he owned no mines in Karnataka. Reddy had offered to resign if his involvement in illegal mining was proved. The JD(S) leader said the AMC in 2004 extracted iron ore from Black Gold Iron Ore mine (BGIOM) in Honnahalli in Bellary whose licence had expired in 1992 itself.

The AMC had paid royalty to the State Government and the amount had been transferred from Reddy’s bank account.

He said the High Court, following a petition, had stalled operations of BGIOM in 1981. However, in 2004 a few interested parties moved the HC to lift 3.5 lakh tonnes of ore left in the stockyards of BGIOM.

Kumaraswamy alleged that the petitioners succeeded to get clearance to lift the iron ore by misleading the court. The court clearly told the petitioners not to mine in its limits. However, there are evidences to show that the AMC had transported the  ore from BGIOM, in violation of the court order, he alleged.

The AMC then exported the ore extracted in BGIOM through ports in Mangalore and other places of Andhra Pradesh, he said. He said IFS officer Punit Sridhar, during his inspection of BGIOM area, found mining operations in BGIOM limits against the court orders. He also filed a first information report with the regional forest officer. However, the officers did not probe into the case citing that the representatives of BGIOM were not available.

The reports of joint survey conducted by officers of Forest Department and Mines and Geology also proved illegal mining in BGIOM limits, he said. He also released copies of transport permits obtained by AMC to transport the ore. He said he had proved that Reddy was into illegal mining in Karnataka. He added that he had many more documents to prove illegal mining by the Reddys and would release them in future.

Hegde refuses to endorse CM’s clean chit to Reddys

Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde prefers not to give a clean chit to any individual in the dock before investigation.

“Chief Minister might have given a clean chit to Bellary Reddys. But I don’t issue certificates to anyone prior to investigation. I will give my judgement only after a thorough probe,” Hegde told press persons here on Monday.

He was reacting to the statement of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa that Reddys were not into illegal mining.

The Lokayukta said he has the authority to investigate into mining within the state’s boundaries.

Task force

But he has to seek assistance of Central agencies to investigate into export of ore through ports in neighbouring states.

He said he would hold a meeting of the officers who had already been investigating illegal mining and constitute a task force of police officers for inquiry.

Well said Dr.Ethihas, Mangalore, these are the people taken the responsibilities to rule the country when they don't even know the meaning of their own holding positions, and people voted them to be their leaders. Their behaviour in public is disgusting, not even they can speak intelligently. Their words are not clear with the mouth filled with beeda(mixture of betel leaf/nut and tabaco) which is banned in the middle east.

Quite bizarre that still some of the readers believe that some politicians are good and others are not! Some political parties are good and others are not!!

What a pity! No one writes about amending the IPC to inflict serious punishment to the guilty.

My dear readers, this corruption will continue unless there is fear like in the middle east.

Kumaraswamy was at the helm for nearly two years in Karnataka. He did not do anything to probe this illegal mining. Now he is pulling out documentary proof from his pocket like a magician.
Anyway now since the Lokayuktha is investigating the case, let him finish with it.Then who should resign, who all should be behind bar can be decided.
Till then these opposition should stop all this cheap drama.Even the governor is joining the gimmicks.

We should understand its not a hidden truth that CBI is controlled totally by power in cental. The very fact that congress people are more into illegal mining congress needs CBI enquiry so that fact can be modified for their side.Readers should not forget also Mr Yediyoorappa requested PM to ban illegal mining keeping in mind that congress people are into this, and asked for Lokayuktha report. Its really bizzare that we/media are not understanding this simple fact keep commenting against karnataka govt simply because its BJP.

I appreciate the comment of Dr.Ethihas, Mangalore. He has perfectly said that, all who go into politics are for making money (there may be a countable number of exceptions).

But, we are the public who fight unnecessarily on behalf of them.

The country is in need of Clean hands who can take India forward as developed country. India has a very good manpower asset, which none of the other countries have. But, we are not using them in full.

the saddest part is, we sometimes depend on third country member to lead our National Parties, Groups. Because, we have only "ji huzoors".

We all know nothing is going to happen, nobody will be punished even with the proof or without it. It had happened in the past & it will definately happen in future, because of the corrupt politicians whom we have, irrespective of any party.

But the sad thing is, the comments of most of the readers who express their views are so much attached to the party/individual. Some are even to the height of creating hatred, contradicting comments of other readers.

It will be fun to watch the three idiots (Congress, JDS & BJP)cleaning each others dirty linen in public.

If you are true sons of true fathers, this is the right opportunity for them to show their integrity to Karnataka by churning out the truth. It will be the next episode of Samudra Manthana of 21st century. Come on guys do it, punish the real culprit.

Only you can do it.. not CBI or Lokayukta as you all are the party to the illegal mining at some time or other with a hand-in-glove arrangement and you have the proof and are in a better position to catch each others neck. My best wishes to Congress, JDS and BJP politicians for a definite success in this noble cause. Just do it...and reserve a place for you in heaven at the fag end of your life. All the best.

Shivanand Shetty, Udipi / Dubai. Ask anyone who is the most corrupt in our country. In one voice everyone tell it is 'politicians'. Yet, we elect them each time. Why? because it is an institution. Same way CBI is a only instituion that has powers to probe politicians not lokayuktha. So, call for CBI enquiry first, if one is really interested in stopping illegal mining. If you belive politicians more trustable than continue saving them.

All are looters, No one is having clean chit, This Gowda family looted entire devanahalli land, if real investigation takes place then ALL politicians (irrespective of party) will be behind the bars. Congress planted land grabbing, illegal mining, corruption in karnataka since independence of the country, then other parties like BJP, JDS, Etc... Etc... all started, now congress is asking CBI enquiry all knows CBI means "Congress Investigation Agency" No one can expect impartial investigation by CBI since it is under Congress, What happenned to Bofors? Quatrochi? nothing is possible by CBI unless it is given indipendent autonomous power.
