'Bellary Chalo' Padayatra a Walk to Protect Karnataka: Congress

Bangalore, Jul 24 (PTI): Congress today said its 320-km padayatra from here to Bellary on July 25 is ''a walk to protect Karnataka'' against the misrule of the BJP government and plundering of natural resources.

"The 'padayatra' stems from a challenge thrown by three Bellary ministers (in the wake of the illegal mining scam), daring Congress to come there. It is not targetted at anyone, but to create awareness about betrayal and misrule of BJP government," KPCC president R V Deshpande and Opposition Congress Leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

The three ministers -- G Janardhana Reddy, Karunakara Reddy and B Sreeramulu -- have thrown a challenge to Congress to dare to come to Bellary, which has been accepted, Siddaramaiah said.

Deshpande said invitations have been sent to Union Ministers representing Karnataka and all leaders, besides intellectuals, to take part in the 'padayatra', which would highlight "rampant corruption" in the state and its failure to provide relief to flood affected people.

Siddaramaiah termed the alleged illegal mining scam in the state as the "mother of all scams", running to Rs 50,000 crore and came down heavily on the government for failing to check "loot" of natural resources, even after Yeddyurappa admitted to it.

He lashed out at Yeddyurappa for giving a clean chit to the Reddy brothers.
The 'padayatra' will be inaugurated by veteran Congress leaders K H Ranganath and former labour minister Sriramulu.

The Congress has directed its workers in 15 Assembly constituencies in the state to take part in the yatra.

The 'padayatra' will culminate in a rally in the city on August 9, coinciding with 'Quit India Movement' day.

This is the right time to show the displeasure by karnataka people against the politicians who loot the wealth of the nation irrespective of party.'Vinasha kale vipareeth budhi'.The democratic system does not suits to our indians. After more than 60 years of indipndance the gap between rich and poor is increasing day by day.No doubt there is a lot of progress in technology. The whole world is like our neighbour hood. The same time slumps are increasing, poorman's conditions are detoriating. The percentage is poverty side. What is the use of independance and the Govt.Useless,pathatic.Can't imagine. Each and every soul has to think and adopt the policy of"Do or die".This is our last step.

Congress will not help anyone except themselves, so are other political parties.I think the people of Karnataka can take care of themselves without the Congress having to protect them.

Though BJP has its own short comings, yet, if they could be controlled and directed,by people's opinions, they would be a better state Govt, than the Congress.

This padayatra may not have immediate impact on the ineffecient BJP government but the symbolic protest will help in alerting the people on wrong doings of the government and how the mining lobby is controlling the elected government of 6 crore people of Karnataka.

This may be first step in liberating the government from the control of mining lobby.

THIS IS HIGH TIME UPA GOVT TO TAKE BOLD STEP AND BAN THIS MINING ONCE FOR ALL AND NATIONALIZE THE MINING ITSELF. OTHERWISE THIS MENANCE SPECIALLY FOR KARNATAKA WILL BECOME BIGGEST THREAT TO IT'S EXISTENCE.

I don't think BJP has any desire to act against corruption or illegal mining as TOP to BOTTOM everyone is involved. People having seen their colours, may have realized BJP is yet another party which is just good enough to stand along side mayawati's BSP or Mulayams SP. Their patriotic and anti-corruption image is long dead.

The time has come for the citizens of this country to forget their political affiliations and treat all looters, scamsters and abusers of power from any party as criminals if we are to save this country. The natural wealth- water, land and deposits of metals underground belong to the people of the of this country. No minister can abuse his power given to him by the voters to represent them in the administration and work to protect the land and its people.

Any protest to draw attention and to oppose any abuse of power by government is justified and all right-thinking people, putting aside their petty quarrels and religious bias should support it.

By the way, the Supreme Court had ruled to stop ALL MINING at Kudremukh and the refinery at Mangalore at present is to be fed by iron ore from any where other than Kudremukh. Who violated this order? the Karnataka State government?

Whether we are 'redy' or no, timely action is needed to curb the looting of our natural resources.......

If things goes unchecked tomorrow we can't sure Bellary belongs to Karnataka or AP.

I strongly support and endorse this PAADAYATHRA because........
1.Bellary have seperate set of rules dictated by Reddy Brothers

2.There is no state govt running instead govt of Reddy brothers only.

3.Honest officers are threatend if they are not dancing according to Reddy brothers tunes.

4.CM have no control over Reddy brothers and often govt was hijacked by Bellary Garus.

5.Mines Looting and exporting with out record is a threat to national security.

6.Assembly session was curtailed from 30 days to 3 days due to DADAGIRI and UNPARLIAMENTARY languages used by Reddys and with out doubt the sole reason of chaos in the house.

These Bellary Bigwigs have no respect and regards to Constitutional heads like EC/GOV/CM/Lokayukata.........

Therefore I believe democracy @ stake so that to protect it's values and also to protect NELA of Karnataka we have to support the move set asiding party lines.JAI KARNATAKA.
