Mangalore: Hoax Call about Fire on AI Flight Causes Panic

Mangalore: Hoax Call about Fire on AI Flight Causes Panic

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (AF)

Mangalore, Jul 24: Close to midnight on Saturday July 24, television channels like CNN-IBN and Times Now broke the news that Air India flight IX 811 at Mangalore airport had caught fire just before take off.

Immediately Daijiworld office was flooded with calls from anxious readers from every nook and corner. However, on investigation we have found that the reports were false and the 'call' to the duty manager at the airport regarding the fire was a hoax. Nevertheless, there was indeed a technical snag in the plane which caused a short delay before take off, but it was quickly sorted out and the flight took off from Mangalore as well as landed in Dubai safely.

It had been reported by the TV channels that 134 passengers were on board and that the tail of the plane had caught fire. They even stated that fire engines had been called to action whereas in reality, no such thing had taken place at all!

Thank U Daijiworld for giving the correct information. May be someone called the news channel and gave the wrong information. It is the duty of the channel to investigate and collect the right information and then transmit it to the public.

whatever it is flights are nice and service is good. there are flights worst than AI EXPRESS.there are so many factors for flight delay not really we have to blame the company. news channels think about their publicity rather than giving right information to the public. they should apologize to everyone.

This is good examples of what jokers of these private channels can play with the news as usual.I am sure that they must not have apologised also after knowing that they have given wrong information to the public. Is this called free media in India??

I just spoke to a passenger who was in that flight. According to him flight went to take off position suddenly pilot informed about technical snag and brought the plane back to parking bay. Then fire fighter placed around the flight. Its normal procedure in any airport that fire fighters will surround the flight in this type of incident. According to him air hostesses have handled the case well they gave confident to passenger and he was pretty happy.

Its depends on individual’s attitude hoe he considered the incident. If some one has a habit of finding black gain he will do that only. There was one more incident on mid air where one passenger was fell sick, even that was handled well but problem was every one got up and they were rushing towards his seat to see him. Don’t you think this is wrong? Get the right person to attend. We Indians need to learn more.

Please request news channels to do some fruitful work, do their homework properly, verify facts then spreading wrong information/rumours and tarnishing the image of AIR INDIA. By doing this the so called News Channel are not going to be popular but no one will ever trust their genuine news also.

Can’t we trace the caller and find out what the real reason for recalling the flight.
In addition who is going to pay the extra landing costs, cost of the fuel, mental trauma of the passengers, crew, relatives and airport personnel? If he had any ulterior motives he should be paying for all this spend some time at the place meant for such fanatics.

It is hardly surprising that these unscrupulous business units masquerading as media houses have agenda driven only by commercial benefits and not by any journalistic ethics. They would stop at nothing to even malign their nation and national assets as long as they serve vested interests of the private sector and get amply compensated for it. If u track the media... a major incident of nose-wheel jam involving a private airline which paarlysed teh ahmedabad airport for 9 hours found just a passing mention in the media. I am sure, had the airline involved been the national carrier- Air India- the channels would have been happily 'breaking news' on the incident even after 48 hours. There has to be a regulatory body to monitor this rape of journalistic ethics resorted to by some print and electronic media which will spell the doom of the fourth estate and democarcy soon if not stopped immediately.

There must be accountability/Transparency while telecasting news of any kind in public. Govt. must supervise & punish these T.V. channels for rushing to broadcast breaking news or any other news without doing proper homework.

Shame on you channels to fool around us in media. Be careful hereafter do not spoil somebody's name nor give attacks to dear ones unnecessary. You must apologise publicly otherwise oneday we people will not believe any news from your channels even it is true.

These news channels in the competition of giving the first news many a time creat panic in the minds of the people.

A kannada channel has expertise in giving such false news and yesterday when the news came as breaking news in Suvarna News, my first reaction was that it is not true and wait for reversal of the news within minutes. Somehow off late this Suvarna News is loosing credibility. It was good when Sashidhar Bhat was in the helm of affairs.

Its very clear that, North Indian and Mallu lobbies are working to defame the Mangalore Airport. When the tragic accident happened on May 22nd these channels were making propaganda that, Mangalore airport is unsafe and even insisting the closer of the Airport.
Mallus lobby is also working to take away the Mangalore airport’s International Airport status to support their upcoming Cannure Airport. Yesterday, besides CNN-IBN and Times Now TV channels, Malayalam channels like Asianet and Kairali TV were telecasting the ‘Air-India Express fire’ as Breaking news. "Jaago Mangaloreans Jaago"
