Mangalore Crash : 'Board of Enquiry Report Within Three Months'

Mangalore, Jul 27: Speaking to press persons soon after the multi-religious prayer meeting, Aravind Jadhav Chairman & Managing Director of Air India reiterated that Air India is steadfast in its commitment to help the families of victims of Mangalore air crash. To a question that the enquiry is deliberately getting delayed Jadhav said the report of the Board of Enquiry will be out within the next three months and there is no question of delaying it. He said that Air India management is duty bound to help the family members to come to terms with the life after losing their family members.
When asked about allegations by some family members of victims having difficulty in obtaining necessary documents to claim compensation Jadhav said that there are legal problems involved and it is not simple and easy to neglect the importance of documents in claiming compensation. He said “We want to be safe than sorry” as there might be repeated claims for compensation even after paying, following recovery of documents at a later stage which will complicate the matter further. That is why we have told the family members time and again to keep the documentations ready to ensure that compensation goes to the right person in the victim’s family.
He did not deny that the compensation issue is getting delayed due to bureaucratic red tape but assured that despite difficulties galore, Air India will not leave them in lurch. As regards to providing jobs in Air India for the families of victims Jadhav said there are several issues involved including whom to give the job to. At the same time we cannot give jobs to all the family members. Jadhav also assured that his ministry is in touch with Civil Aviation authorities of Dubai, other Gulf States, and immigration offices.
