Freak Accident Leaves Francis in Dire Need of Help

Kundapur, Jul 28: Thirty-year-old Francis, the youngest son of Pascu Kotha and Celestine and a native of Kawrady village in Kandloor gram panchayat near here was the sole bread winner of his family until he met with a freak accident which left him bed-ridden.
While his siblings moved away in search of greener pastures, he was the only one who supported his old parents by working at a restaurant in Bangalore. After sometime Francis came down to his native to stay with his parents and began working at a garage at Brahmavar. However, after a brief happy time with his folks, tragedy struck when Francis severely damaged his knee while working on an open well at home during this summer. The rope with the help of which he was climbing down to the bottom snapped and he fell into the 35-ft-deep well.
Though he was admitted to a local hospital and then at the district Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore with the timely help of the neighbours, he was so badly hurt that he is bed-ridden and unable to move. His future lies in a quandary, since the family can barely manage even a one-time meal, let alone the expensive medical care.
Further, the tile-house that they live in is dilapidated and the roof leaking. During heavy rains it becomes difficult to stay inside the house with water dripping from everywhere.
‘We are not able to work. Our son who was sustaining the family is now bed-ridden. We have nowhere to go," says a heart-broken Pascu.
Whenever Francis gets tired of sleeping, he straightens his body and leans over the wall. He has strong determination to support his aged parents. His life seems to go in vain without medical care due to acute poverty. Generous contributions by donors would go a long way in helping this youngster to get back to his normal life.
