Mangalore, Aug 1: Bringing back the memories of Kettikallu landslide, a massive landslide has been witnessed at Eliyar of Amblamogaru panchayat in the taluk that has left four houses damaged on Sunday August 1.

The houses of residents, Krishnappa, Keshav Poojary, Devu Poojary and Shantaram Rai have suffered damages. According to the residents, they heard a crackling noise at around 2.00 am which they ignored. However, in the morning they realized the extent of damage. A daivastana of Panjurli deity has also been damaged.

Huge cracks have appeared on the hill behind these dwellings threatening to slide any moment on further development, which is being noticed. The land too has caved in. Residents complain that no authorities have visited the spot so far and urged the concerned to take necessary measures.

Landslide at Valachil Disrupts Movement of Yeswantpur Express

Meanwhile, in another similar incident at Valachil in the outskirts of Mangalore, landslide has disrupted the movement of the Yeshwantpur Express on its way to the City. The mud has slid on to the track forcing the train to halt at Bantwal station.

The passengers of the train who had to take the bus from Bantwal to the City were a harassed lot. The works on clearing off the track at the spot has begun.
