Mangalore, Aug 2: St Christopher Vehicle Drivers and Owners Association celebrated its 45th anniversary along with the annual general body meeting at Rosario Church on Sunday August 1.

The vehicles were blessed by Mangalore Dias Chancellor Fr Henry Sequira on the occasion.

Association president Sushil Noronha welcomed the gathering.

In the programme held at cultural hall, Fr Henry Sequira honoured national level Special Olympics roller skating champion Royston Pinto on the occasion.

Fr Sequira, presiding over the function, said that awarding and honouring of talented students by the association will take the association to greater heights as the members start loving the association for its noble work.

Lions Club PRO Agnel Rodrigues was given an award on the occasion.

Central excise and customs officer Steven Dias, chief guest of the programme, gave awards to six students of the association for their achievements.

Dias, addressing the students, said, “Hard work should be the motto of students and after education once you get into a good position you have to look into serving the society and nation rather then running after money. You should be a part of the government programmes which will bring honour to students”.

Spiritual director Fr Stanney Goveias, secretary of the association Victor Menezes, vice- president of the association Francis D’Souza, and joint secretary Herald D’Souza, were the other guests present on the occasion.

    Jerome
In your quoted version of St. Christopher you are saying, " I am Christ your king, whom you are serving by this work."

Meaning christ is the king and Chritopher is the servant.
Can you tell what you mean by saying, "patron saint of vehicles, pray for us."

If I was you, I would have said,
Glory to God almighty, thy will be done on earth as in heaven. Direct me to serve you, like you did to Christopher.

God is my creator so I dont need christopher or any saint to interact with God on my hehalf.

patron saint of vehicles, pray for us.Christopher was a Canaanite 5 cubits (7.5 feet (2.3 m)) tall and with a fearsome face. While serving the king of Canaan, he took it into his head to go and serve the greatest king there was. He met a hermit who instructed him in the Christian faith. Christopher asked him how he could serve Christ. When the hermit suggested fasting and prayer, Christopher replied that he was unable to perform that service. The hermit then suggested that because of his size and strength Christopher could serve Christ by assisting people to cross a dangerous river, where they were perishing in the attempt. The hermit promised that this service would be pleasing to Christ.
After Christopher had performed this service for some time, a little child asked him to take him across the river. During the crossing, the river became swollen and the child seemed as heavy as lead, so much that Christopher could scarcely carry him and found himself in great difficulty. When he finally reached the other side, he said to the child: "You have put me in the greatest danger. I do not think the whole world could have been as heavy on my shoulders as you were." The child replied: "You had on your shoulders not only the whole world but Him who made it. I am Christ your king, whom you are serving by this work." The child then vanished
