Bengaluru, Apr 18: The new preventive measures for Covid-19 issued by the state government on Saturday April 17 have made it mandatory to issue passes for only 100 people for wedding ceremonies held in halls. If the number of people exceeds this limit, they will be liable to be prosecuted and FIR will be filed against them. At the same time, the respective deputy commissioners (DC) of the district and police commissioners will be held responsible if temple festivals and such other programmes are held.
The discussions about these guidelines were held in the video conference held by home minister, Basavaraj Bomai, revenue minister, R Ashok, and health minister, Dr Sudhakar, with the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police (SP) of districts on Saturday.

The DCs and SPs have to take preventive measures to ensure that festivals are not held, rather than forcibly dispersing the people after the crowd comes together. At the same time, directions have been issued to procure 50 percent additional beds for Covid patients. In case of small scale fairs and festivals, tahsildars and deputy superintendents of the police have to visit the spot a month in advance and convince the concerned against holding the programmes, said minister Ashok.
The railway department has prescribed a fine of Rs 500 for people not wearing masks inside trains and within the railway station limits. Minister Bommai said that the marriage and other functions already fixed will follow the restrictions imposed earlier, and henceforth, passes will have to be procured for such functions.
For marriages that will be fixed afresh, district administraiton's permission is necessary. If more people come together, the marriage hall will be locked, and a first information report will be filed against organizers. The tahsildar has to issue plasses and inform the police station concerned. In the case of indoor marriage halls, the limit is 100 while for outdoor programmes, the number is limited to 200.
To a question whether Covid structures will become harsher after April 20, Bommai said that on Monday, the CM will hold video discussions with ministers and MLAs after which a decision would be taken.
Mangaluru: Delivery agents to be tested every 15 days
Mangaluru, Apr 18: With the number of coronavirus cases in Karnataka rising rapidly, the state government has issued fresh guidelines restricting both private and public programmes and celebrations. Accordingly, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has urged the public to follow safety protocols strictly and wear masks, maintain social distance and to avoid venturing out of homes unnecessarily.
As per the state government's guidelines, delivery personnel of online food delivery, staff of hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, malls, halls, auto drivers, bus conductors and drivers will have to undergo Covid test every 15 days.
No permission will be given for any religious programme.
Weddings with not more than 200 people in open place, and not more than 100 people in halls. Covid passes made mandatory for weddings.
Birthday celebration with not more than 50 people in open space, 25 in halls
Last rites restricted to 50 people in open places, 25 in halls. For funerals, the limit is 25 people.
Other celebrations may allow 50 people depending on the size of hall
Political events cannot have more than 200 people in open places.
MCC has warned that any failure to adhere to the above restrictions will attract penalty.
