I am Prepared to Sacrifice My Chair to End Illegal Activities - Yeddy

I am Prepared to Sacrifice My Chair to End Illegal Activities - Yeddy

Davanagere, Aug 2 (PTI): Upping its ante, the ruling BJP in Karnataka today announced a state-wide 'expose Congress' campaign from August 20 in a counter-offensive against the principal opposition party on the illegal mining issue.

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa led his party leaders in mounting a scathing attack on Congress and JDS at a rally here and said he would undertake district-wide tours after August 20 to expose Congress.

Addressing a 'jana jagruthi samavesha', the first in the series of four such rallies to counter the nine-day old Congress 320-km Bangalore-Bellary Padayatra, Yeddyurappa said he would also highlight his government's achievements during the programme.

Accusing the Congress of "looting", he said, "Illegal mining has been going on for more than 15 years and it is the Congress leaders who are involved in it. But still, they blame my government for it and went on a padayatra".

"We will expose Congress and irregularities committed by that party when it ruled the state. The Congress is trying to disturb law and order situation in the state", he charged.

Asserting that his government was firm on ending "all illegal activities", including illegal mining, he said "For this I am prepared for any sacrifice... even my chair."

Senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu hit out at Congress leader Siddaramaih for demanding dissolution of the state Assembly and said "let the Congress dissolve Lok Sabha. BJP is also ready for polls".

Yeddyurappa and state unit BJP President K S Eswarappa ruled out any alliance with JDS, scotching speculations that the saffron party may seek the support of the Deve Gowda-led party in the event of any threat to its government by Bellary mining magnets and ministers -- G Janardhana Reddy, G Karunakra Reddy and B Sreeramulu-- who are sore over banning of iron ore exports.

Eswarappa said, "Yeddyurappa government will complete the remaining three years. Nobody can shake it. We do not need the help of any other party to ensure its continuance."

Rubbishing allegations of illegal mining, Janardhana Reddy said his family was not involved in it and declared "if any one proved that we have done illegal mining on even one inch of land, we will hang (ourselves) publicly".

Yeddyurappa Loses Cool at Dalit Protesters

IANS

Yeddyurappa lost his cool on seeing a group of Dalit Sangarsh Samiti protesters at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally here Monday and lashed out at senior police officers in public for failing to prevent the protest.

As the protesters tried to shout slogans when he was about to address the rally, an incensed Yeddyurappa summoned Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil to the stage and shouted at him.

It was not clear what the DSS members wanted amid the din created by Yeddyurappa yelling at the police officer and BJP workers trying to outshout the protesters.

Even as Patil was trying to explain, the chief minister took on the protesters and told them that this was not the place to air their grievances.

"Your problems have not been solved all these years and you expect me to do so immediately. It takes time. I will take your memorandum and act on it. Give me some time," Yeddyurappa said.

Soon he cooled down, and addressing the rally launched a scathing attack on Congress for continuing with its march to Bellary even after he had banned iron ore export from ports in Karnataka and also transporting of the mineral to other ports for export.

"Uprooting Congress from the state is my aim," he thundered and announced that he too will go on a 'padayatra' (walkathon) throughout the state from Aug 20.

The Congress launched a 320-km Bangalore to Bellary 'padayatra' July 25 and will Aug 9 reach its destination - the political base of the mining barons and BJP ministers, the Reddy brothers. It plans to hold a rally in Bellary.

Tourism Minister G. Janardhana Reddy, his elder brother Revenue minister G. Karunakara Reddy and the younger G. Somashekara Reddy, an assembly member are accused of large-scale illegal mining and export of iron ore from Bellary.

The Reddys have denied the allegations and have launched a 'padayatra' in Bellary claiming the Congress was 'defaming Bellary' by levelling false charges against them.

The Bellary 'padayatra' is led by their loyalist and Health Minister B. Sriramulu, who has tonsured his head and sworn to wear only black and survive on grains and fruits till Aug 20 when the BJP will hold a rally there.

The rally in Davangere, 260 km from Bangalore, was the first of the four planned by BJP to counter the Congress and Janata Dal-Secular campaign against the party-led government over illegal mining. The second rally in Gulbarga in north Karnataka is on Aug 5, the third in Mysore in south on Aug 12 and the last in Bellary on Aug 20.

The Reddy brothers, senior party leader M. Venkaiah Naidu, party general secretary and Bangalore South Lok Sabha member H.N. Ananth Kumar, and state party president K.S. Eshwarappa attended the Davangere rally.

Yeddi has no guts to take head on Reddys one to one. There is no truth on his saying.CM just fooling around public for the sake of CHAIR.

When Shobakka was askd to from ministry by powerful Reddys where was his conscience???

When he agreed to induct Renukacahrya for the reason of only for REDDY BROTHERS even though Renu charged openly against Raghvendra MP,son of CM of corruption charges then how he adjusted the situation for the chair?

There is no govt headded by CM!in Bellary. What Reddys says only applies. When not in terms with Redyys @ peak the visit of CM to Bellary defeated all respect &
precedent of protocol even by DC not attending CM's function!!!Where went his conscience then?

With in 48 hours of all transfered IAS/IPS officer of Bellary re transfered due to Reddys blackmail!!!Is their any conscience left in CM????

There is so many instances of confirming his loyality to CM's chair while his two years of tennure of CM.Yesterday's CM adressing is indirectly a challenge for Reddys and Reddys adressing also a open challenge to CM.This "MUSKINA GUDDATA"not stops here and it will continue and one or other way YEDDY HAVE TO DEFEND REDDYS FOR THE CHAIR OF...........

Am not surprised why BJP is not going for CBI probe. The truth is well known that CBI is Congress Beauru of Investigation. Everybody is seeing how Congress is using it against the oppositiion like silent killers. For Congress CBI is just to crub BJP and defame it. Having said that am sure even BJP als will do the same thing when they come to power by appointing their agents in CBI. So its a fair play.

What Mr. Yeddyurappa is saying is to an extent correct. Let Congress expose their corteries who started it first and have connection to the loot uptill Gujrat. Karnataka/ Andhra Govt & the NGOs should expose all the illegal miners in these two states as well as other part of India. The guilty should be punished with penalty & jail term and recover all the illegal mine-wealth they had emassed and donated liberally. Those big sharks, in the name of patriotism and religious/ cultural protection, are sucking the common men of their rightful share of upto 9% growth of India Inc.

Yedyurappa is fully aware that Congress is doing illegal mining! Then why are you waiting? You are the chief minister, so go ahead and put them behind bars. If required go for CBI enquiry and provide CBI with the proof.

Just misleading people will not help Mr. Yedyurappa. Be brave and take action.

So Eshwarappa what are you talking? No alliance with JDS now? Why are changing your statements every now and then? Be calm, don't get confused by Congress Padayatra.
