Yeddy to MLAs: Stay on My Side, Not Reddys

Bangalore, Aug 4 (DC): In a bid to isolate the Reddy brothers further, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has warned some of his ministers who are seen to be hobnobbing with the Bellary strongmen, to cut ties with the clique at the earliest.

To drive the point home, Yeddyurappa has given a clear direction to all ministers who owe allegiance to him not to take any help from the Reddy mine barons to organise rallies planned by the party.

Yeddyurappa, who was closeted with a few ministers, including Transport minister R. Ashok and social welfare minister D. Sudhakar, took them to task for associating with the controversial mining magnates. He reportedly reminded Mr Ashok that it was he who had given him two ministerial portfolios and charge of two districts.

In a similar vein, he jogged Sudhakar's memory on how he had protected him even after the CBI framed charges against him. The bottomline? The chief minister made clear to both ministers that the two forthcoming rallies should be organised at Gulbarga and Mysore independent of the Reddys.

Several city MLAs, who back Ashok, told Deccan Chronicle that they were standing with the party and chief minister. " Reddy keeps giving public statements that he has the support of 20 MLAs. In reality, he might not have the backing of even two MLAs. Since he is close to reporters, he feeds them a different picture," three MLAs in the Ashok group said.

After the legislature session had been adjourned abruptly, Yeddyurappa has been working relentlessly to lure away all the MLAs and ministers who are identified with the Reddy brothers.

Several ministers, including Goolihatti Shekar and P.M. Narendra Swamy, who are not in the good books of the chief minister, met Yeddyurappa. The fence-sitters, led by excise minister M.P. Renuka-charya, too, met him for approval of developmental projects in their constituencies, the sources said.

    Perhaps, at this point, the
    government of Karnataka is the
    most unstable government in the
nation. The CM's ultimatum to the
Ministers and MLAs to stand with him may not have
    much weight because Reddy's can
    throw away money like trash,
    so bribing with
millions to the politicians is like
    a child game for them.

How many will stand with the CM
is a question to be answered
after a few days. If they will
stand with the CM, they are real
    patriots and must be commended
for their stand. Let us wait and
    see!

Whatever differences it may be, Dr. Yediurappa is the only right person for the seat of Karnataka CM. Since 27 years he has been serving Karnataka as MLA, MLC, Opposition Leader, Deputy CM and CM. The best part is he never thought of changing the party like other cheap politicians. He should be well respected in this regard. He always supported farmers and succeeded in getting their dues from the governments.

As far as BJP is concerned I think no one can stand near to him at this moment. He should be well respecetd and he should continue as CM for this term. He comes inline with Virendra Patil, Devaraj Urs, BD Jathi etc. He is Vajapeyee of Karnataka.

Mr. Dev, you know so many things!!!! That means you too are involved with those who paid huge sum to attack Churches & Pubs. You should be booked first. Any way the loss is more from Reddy’s illegal mining than the congress padayatra exp. If Reddy n Yeddy feel they haven’t done anything wrong why are they afraid of CBI enquiry? Where the 50,000 tons Iron ore gone from the port?? When Lokayuktha report comes, Reddys will be behind the bars. Santhosh Hegde will not spare any one whether congress or BJP or JDS nor you n me??

Kateel Ramesh Prabhu, I do not see anyone is desiring for the fall of BJP. Kannadigas are against Reddys who steal Karnataka's wealth. Most of the people were against Yeddy becuase he acted as a coward & danced to the tune of Reddys. Thereby he brough disgrace to you and me..Kannadigas. Certainly everyone will support BJP, if it prove that it is better than Congress & work for the development of Karnataka. Ramesh Prabhu, have a broad mind and think of the development, keeping aside the religion/caste/creed.
