Bantwal: Dalit leader, mass marriage organizer Raja Pallamajalu passes away

Bantwal, Apr 22: Bantwal resident Raja Pallamajalu (53) who was a Dalit leader, convener and drew attention by holding free mass marriages passed away in a private hospital in Mangaluru on Thursday after a brief illness. He has left behind his wife, four sons and a daughter.

For the last 18 years, he has held mass marriages as president of Navachetana Seva Trust, Bantwal. He had indulged creatively in social and educational organizations and was the voice of Dalits and those who were deprived of justice. He led Dalit campaigns held in the district. He was known as a noble social worker by organizing free mass marriages.

"His passing away is a huge loss for society," said Bhanuchandra Krishnapur, president of D K district Ambedkar Forum for Social Justice in his condolences.
