Udupi: DC Jagadeesha takes part in event without mask - Public express rage

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Apr 24: Social media is abuzz with the citizens of the district expressing rage against deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha reportedly not wearing a mask while attending the Mehendi programme of daughter of additional SP on the evening of Friday April 23.

The public is asking if it is right on the part of a DC, who has ordered the citizens to wear masks and maintain social distance, to behave in this manner.

DC Jagadeesha's action of asking girl students to vacate a bus recently, citing over capacity as the reason, and not providing them any alternative arrangement had made the public of the district, express their anger at him. This is the second instance where the DC is being questioned by the general public for his behaviour as a leading government authority during the difficult times of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

One of the posts on social media says, "Today Mehendi in the house of an additional SP. Hundreds of people. DC not wearing a mask. Marriage is the day after tomorrow at Amrit Garden. It seems 600 people are attending. Many poor people have postponed their marriage functions because of fear of law. Many have spent hours together at the tahsildar's office to obtain passes. Is there no value to commoners in this district?"

Though the media tried to contact DC for his response on his participation in the Mehendi programme without a mask, he was not available for comment.

DC Jagdish Do you think that Covid 19 rules are only for poor public so that in the name of controlling Corona virus spread you can harass them whatever way you want. You have shown your power on public including students travelling in the bus in Udupi. But you never bothered to follow covid-19 guidelines while attending mehendi function nor bothered to caution other attendees.

The fact that common man has to include priests and video / photographers with the limit of 50 and these so called privileged people get to do what they want is disgusting. So much talk about social distancing and wearing masks. A lot of us are so stressed since weddings have been postponed for over a year and with the new rules etc. What makes these people so special. Serious action should be taken on the organisers of the functions. They are taking ‘My life,My Rules’ very seriously. Punish both the DC and the organisers heavily.

I was angry and upset when he stopped the bus and removed a student, without arranging alternative for her to reach home. Both this DC & those in the photo must be fined and issued letters of covid 19 non- compliance on. DC & SP must remember they are servants of public and vice versa. Also all guests attending this event must be fines if they are not adhering to covid 19 health protocols. Need to find out which minister is behind these two fellows that made these two public servants flout the rules. Shame on these people.

Govt officials are servants of public, when our own PM says that he is servant of people. Why these govt officials are acting otherwise. This is because people don't raise voice/complaints. Its time people wake up and teach those govt servants lessons and they don't cross lakhmana Rekha.

What is wrong with public. Why people don't understand that Rules are only for the people and not for the rulers. He is following his master. So far what we see is only tip of iceberg. Don't worry very soon all the facilities for basic education, health will be deprived for majority of the people across India, future generation will be illiterate and will end up in working for landlords as mere slaves and people will see the conditions which were existing exactly 50 years back in India. Note my words.

Just compare this incident with the one in which the Norwegian PM was involved: BUZZ STAFF| NEWS18.COM Updated: April 09, 2021, 14:55 IST Norwegian police said on Friday they have fined Prime Minister Erna Solberg for breaking COVID-19 social distancing rules when organising a family gathering to celebrate her birthday. The fine is for 20,000 Norwegian crowns ($2,352 or Rs 1.75 lakh approx.) police chief Ole Saeverud told a news conference. The two-term prime minister apologised last month for organising an event to celebrate her 60th birthday with 13 family members at a mountain resort in late February, despite a government ban on events attended by more than 10 people. While the police would not have issued a fine in most such cases, the prime minister has been at the forefront of the government’s work to impose restrictions, the police said. Think for yourselves & decide what sloppy & irresponsible administration we have!

Winston Churchill had rightly said while giving Independence to India that Indians cannot rule themselves and it will be a disaster. I bet British times must have been really good when it comes to facilities for commoners. Here we can see utter violation and open violation by bureaucrats and politicians, especially after our bluff master chaiwala has taken power in 2014 and of course Kalla yeddy in Karnataka.
