Three Girls from City to Attend World Youth Parliament in New York

Mangalore, Aug 5:  Three young students from city Yulia D’Souza, Munita Veigas and Amulya Rodrigues have been chosen to attend the World Youth Parliament (WYP) to be held in New York from Monday August 9 to 16. Yulia and Munita are from St Agnes and Amulya is a student of Roshni Nilaya College.

WYP is a large-scale international gathering of young people from around the world whose purpose is to write a ‘Magna Charta of Values’ for a new civilization. The Magna Charta of Values is a document to be presented to the highest authorities. It describes the basic principles for a new civilization shared by all its young participants. On August 13, the Magna Charta will be officially presented to the United Nations headquarters.

The idea of a universal parliament was inspired by Fernando Rielo, a Spanish thinker. He felt that the voice of young people which is free from prejudice and self-interest could be heard around the world and could play a decisive role in shaping the key issues of social and spiritual life.

WYP is promoted by Idente Youth, an association founded in 1975 by Fernando Rielo. It is also sponsored by many other associations and organizations.

Yulia, Munita and Amulya will join other students from across the country.
