Bantwal, Apr 27: “Monitor people going for Covid tests during the lockdown. Make sure that there is no congestion of people. The departments of health and revenue should hold discussions about it and take action,” said Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor.

He was speaking after presiding over a meeting about Covid precautions held at Vittal guest house.

“The government is concerned about the health of people and is therefore announcing various precautionary measures to control the virus. It is the responsibility of everybody to follow them. The officials should make sure that people do not face problems during the lockdown,” he said.

Taluk health officer Deepa Prabhu said that coronavirus has become severe in the taluk. “The virus was found mostly among the elderly during the last time. The second wave is found among the youth. Therefore, young people should not neglect. It is a mutant virus and has a serious format. The virus was found among 50 people in Puttur Vidhan Sabha limits. 28 cases are active in Vittal. 34 people are under home isolation. Two people have died from it. The virus spread rapidly at the Vittal market, caution is essential,” she said.

Bantwal tahsildar Rashmi SR, taluk panchayat CEO, Rajanna, Vittal town panchayat president, Chadrakanti Shetty, vice president, Usha Krishnappa and chief officer, Malini were present.
