Coronavirus cases in Karnataka spike: 39,047 new infections, 229 deaths in single day

Bengaluru, Apr 28: The state on Wednesday, April 28 recorded a spike in the number of 39,047 fresh coronavirus cases to its tally.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state rose to 3,28,884. Bengaluru Urban alone reported a huge number of 22,596 cases on Wednesday alone.

As many as 229 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Wednesday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 137 deaths and Ballari eight. With this, the toll so far has risen to 15,036.

Over 11,833 people were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday, taking the total recoveries so far to 10,95,883.

So far, Karnataka has seen 14,39,822 positive cases so far.

Among the total active cases, 2,192 patients are currently admitted in ICUs across the state.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 22.70%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 0.58%. A total of 1,71,997 samples were tested between Tuesday and Wednesday.

As many as 92,40,078 people have received vaccination so far in the state.
