Mangalore: Cleft Lip, Palate Camp Inaugurated at A J Hospital

Mangalore, Aug 7: Rtn Jnana Vasantha Shetty, Rotary governor dist 3180 inaugurated the free Cleft Lip and Palate Camp at AJ Hospital here on Saturday August 7.

The camp is organized by Rotary International Dist 3180 in association with A J Hospital & Research Centre, Kshema Hospital, Unity Hospital and Smile Train at its revenue districts Chamarajnagar, Mysore, Kodagu, Hassan, Chickmagalur, Shimoga, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that in olden days people were not fortunate enough to have such treatments and the patients had to suffer without being able to even smile properly. It is a great initiative by Rotary and the hospitals to hold such a useful camp to eradicate Cleft Lip in the district, he added.

President of A J group of institutions, A J Shetty the chief guest of the programme said that the year- long programme is free to all children and adults in and around the districts and the public should avail the benefits of the camp.

General Manager Karnataka bank B Ashok hedge said that people should not be ignorant and should take the advantage of the free treatment. He informed that otherwise the cleft lip surgeries can cost over Rs 25,000.

Chairman, Rotary District Community Service Dr K Mohandas Bhandary presided.  He said that the doctors have joined together for a noble cause, for the benefit of sicoety in general and the people need to cooperate with them

Cleft Lip & Palate is a birth deformity, which occurs one in 700 live births and there are 14 lakh children suffering with this deformity in India.  If neglected, this defect not only causes disfigurement of the face but also affects speech, hearing and teething thus crippling the overall physical, psychological and social development of the affected child.  This can be successfully treated by Plastic Surgery done at an early age. 

Mangalore: Blood Donation Camp Held at A J Hospital

Mangalore Aug 7: The Dakshina Kannada District Taxi Men's and Maxicab Association and A J Hospital jointly organized a blood donation camp at the premises of the hospital on Saturday August 7.

President, of A J Groups A J Shetty inaugurated the camp. Speaking on the occasion, he said that such camps play a vital role and benefit the society at large. He assured that the family members of taxi and maxi cab drivers will be provided with free blood incase of emergency.

Taxi Men’s and Maxicab Association president Monappa Bhandary said that the members of the association should be aware of the facilities provided by the government and should avail its benefits.

A J institute of Medical Science dean Dr Ramesh Pai informed how the blood donated by taxi drivers and others will be utilized in future.  Circle inspector M Manjunath Shetty among others were also present on the occasion.

    I'am willing to support to send for "Baby Feeding SPECIAL NIPPLES" for new born babies and young chidren for feeding purpose, children with "Cleft Lip & Palate" issue,Babies with issue needs good feeding from birth to young age to be very healthy and face society ,we are one of only manufactueres in world who manufacture In-house,

    I am surprised to see the news that we have 14 lakhs in India, thier health during initial age is very important , then when they are healthy and grown up they can be properly taken care by correction. Iam not a doctor but a expert of baby feeding products and the feeding SPECIAL NIPPLES we produce is a contribution back to society,
