Udupi, May 10: Karnataka home minister and district in-charge Basavaraj Bommai directed officials to distribute the medicine kit that contains free tablets to the infected people in home isolation.

He was virtually speaking at a progress review meeting concerning the Covid management.

“Visit those who are in home isolation and obtain a report about their health every day. In the event their health worsens, they can be admitted to the hospital immediately,” he said.

“The oxygen that is arriving from Bahrain and Kuwait will be made available to the district. The government has approved a 1500 Lpm oxygen plant for the district hospital. Procure empty cylinders on lease from private enterprises to prevent scarcity of oxygen in a time of crisis,” he said.

“A new Covid testing centre will be opened at the district hospital. 480 Remdesivir will be supplied to the district and a request for 1,000 more is placed. Give me a prior intimation if there is likely a scarcity in medicines or  oxygen,” Bommai said.

He also directed officials to admit the infected in Covid Care Centres to prevent the spread of the infection among others and also that the patient is admitted to the hospital promptly in an emergency.

“Use CSR funds of private organizations in the event of need,” he said.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, Coastal Development Authority president, Mattaru Rathnakar Hedge, district panchayat CEO, Dr Navin Bhat, additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, SP Vishnuvardhan, Dr Sudheer Chandra Sooda and others were present.
