Mangalore, Aug 14: Dr Surekha (50), a government doctor, who used to live at her home near KSRTC Bus Stand, Bejai in the city, was murdered by unknown miscreants on Friday August 13.

Surekha was killed during her visit to her home on Friday afternoon. During lunch time, she had visited her home from her clinic near the Police Lines here. She was found to have fallen on her face in the bathroom. Her brother, who went in looking for her at night after calls to her went unanswered, found that she had collapsed and died, due to injuries inflicted around her abdomen region with a vegetable-cutting knife. She had been stabbed nine times.

As her son was admitted into a hospital, after getting injured in accident a couple of years ago, there was no one in her house when she came home. Dr Gopesh Kumar, her husband, had died about two years back. Urwa police inspector, Niranjajraj Aras, and other personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information. Investigations are on.

So far, the policemen have been unable to get any clue about those behind the murder or their motive. It was not a murder for gain, as no valuables have gone missing from the doctor's home.
